My wife and I enjoyed the Association concert. Their music brought back some fond memories. The group brought humor with their act. Their sound had the place rocking. The venue was perfect with a close personal feel for the audience. I strongly recommend their act for fans of The Association.
The Association still have the sounds of the 60's that I love. An amazing concert that a group formed 58 years made my Saturday night a memory for the rest of my life.
Very disappointed. There was nothing indicating this was a fundraiser/cuisine concert. Ticketmaster made it sound like it was outdoor venue, so I got insurance for three tickets. No reason needed to get insurance, concert wouldn’t be cancelled due to being a fundraiser! They didn’t even check our tickets. I know people were there that didn’t have tickets, just there for free food and drinks. You could tell people just walked in
The venue was small enough to feel intimate. It was great to hear all of the songs of our youth again.
The first time we saw the Association was in 1966 at the Glendale Ice House. This was before their first big hit. We thought they were good then. Now in 2021 with only one original member performing, it was more of a tribute band. But the show was still good and they are all talented singers and musicians.
Old guys who don't sing or harmonize very well anymore, but we loved the nostalgia and the songs.
The Association showed that age is meaningless when it comes to rockin' out. They played all their hits, some great B sides, and a killer 15-minute Big Chill medley that sounded as good as the originals plus with an extra dose of those famous Association harmonies. A great show all around!
Went to see The Association last night at The Rose in Pasadena. It was a nice retrospective evening that took us all back to the simpler times of the late 60's/early 70's full of flower power, conscience-expanding drugs and anti-war sentiments. The fellow in front, Jim Yester, actually celebrated his 80th birthday with us! Can you imagine being 80 and still performing? Naturally they ran through all of their famous hits, Windy, Cherish, Never My Love, Along Comes Mary, Six Man Band, and others, including a seven-song medley of songs from The Big Chill, and played a non-stop 110-minute set all told. The crowd was only about 100 people but were nonetheless appreciative of their still-lovely vocal harmonies and the humorous and whimsical stories all of them told about those times and the great musicians they rubbed shoulders with made for an entertaining evening.
It was wonderful seeing and hearing them. Surprisingly good.
