Always a great time seeing the Afghan Wigs! Greg Dulli was in a great mood, having fun! Venue sound wasn’t great. Hard to hear singing.
I had not seen this fab band before. Like most fans of them, I must say they are underrated and don’t get the props they deserve. However, their fans realize just how great their showmanship and talent is. They Rocked! Soulful yet loud, guitars abound, gorgeous vocals and smart lyrics. They are pros and watching them play with passion and gusto was a sight to behold. I was up front so it was thrilling. A cool tech gave me the stunners set list, what a great memento. Check out this band. They’re great.
Pros-The show was great. Intimate venue. Outside area was nice. The club was a great place for a show. Cons- Paying $5 for a water sucked. Parking is a problem. I have never been to show with such a brightly lit stage. Take it down about 5 notches. Needed sunglasses.
Afghan Whigs are that rare gem in that they are truly talented musicians who are invested in their craft and all about making the very best live experience possible for fans. They bring it every time and are incredible live!!
Great show! Fantastic! They played lots of new songs and old songs, and it was entertaining all around. The Afghan Whigs don't believe in Encores so that was fun too. There was no halt to the proceedings.
They were at their best. Phenomenal show. They just get better with age!
I have always loved going to gigs at The Paradise...but, this one was even a little different. The band was in top form & brought the magic from the jump. I'd seen them in NYC 2 nights earlier & they mixed up the setlist a little, too. They had fun, we had fun...and it made for a sublime show!
Room was great, packed. Lots of energy, band sounded great and setlist was awesome! Great live band. Good opener too!
So I’m always happy to see them live. Up close at a great venue like 9:30 Club is even better. Dulli always has entertaining repartee and love when he unexpectedly knocks into a few lines if a cover song. Happy to see some youngsters there enjoying them, too.
