    Awesome but

by Sarcasticcommentator1 on 12/8/13Town Hall - New York

Overall performance was awesome and joyful ! But we liked Taro to do two or three things: 1). He could have said something as Nelson Mandela departed on the same day as for his concert. He could have performed some music for Mandela. 2). He could have included one or two typical classical pieces with his great violin. 3). He could have included some pieces relates to Holiday season when he came back for the encore. He seemingly must have prepared details for the concert, which seemed that he might have stayed inside the box. As an artist and performance professional, he could have included above three items in a timely manner. He could have differentiated that night for New York from other cities. If he could have done these, he would be a global entertainer with his violin.

    An amazing show of talent!

by Boings on 12/8/13Town Hall - New York

We had front row seats to see Taro Hakase at New York Town Hall. We had never been to this venue before, and were surprised--and concerned--when we discovered that our seats were literally 2 feet from the front of the stage. Well, it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Taro is not only a talented violinist, but he connects with the audience in a very personal way. By the last several songs, he had the entire audience standing and clapping along with the band. Every single piece the group performed was beautifully orchestrated. The one caveat I had is that there was one particular piece--Mission to Complete--which included hip-hop style dancing, strobe lights, and neon fans. Much of the time during this loooong piece was spent in theatrical dancing by the group, and I felt it detracted from the quality of the overall concert. I would prefer to see Taro heading more in a sophisticated direction, rather than cheapening his performance with funky tricks. Definitely worth going to--an evening you won't forget!

    Fantastic night!!

by AngelinaJJ683 on 12/8/13Town Hall - New York

Taro Hakase is incredible violinist. We really enjoyed his play and stage! i'm looking forward to see him soon. The only sad thing is that his CD was sold out and I couldn't get it. I guess this is because his performance was too beautiful and fantastic.
