great to be back in Canada!

by hawkeyegrad on 7/27/15President's Choice Ballpark - Ajax

it was my third visit to Canada, first to Toronto. This was one of two baseball sessions I attended. The US team lost to the Dominicans on Thursday and beat the Canadians on Friday. Great idea on having two baseball fields, as there were 3 games a day in the prelim rounds. Game 2 was at a different field than Games 1 and 3. Haven't been to the Olympic Games but I had a memory of the Pan-Am Games being in the USA when I was young, one of the few times the American media covered it, Indianapolis 1987. So I told myself if it ever was close I was going. The venue reminded me of a spring training or minor league baseball venue due to its size, but this was comfortable and familiar as I grew up near Des Moines, IA, where I saw plenty of minor-league Iowa Cubs games. And now that I live in the Twin Cities, this continues with seeing St. Paul Saints games. While in Toronto I also saw a Blue Jays game, on Sunday, also the site of the Pan-Am Games ceremonies. Great to see the Olympic-style flame near the Blue Jays stadium.

    Unforgettable

The evening was incredible! Cirque du Soleil put on an amazing show! The only thing that hurt the evening was the extrememly long speech from the president of PASO! The evening was great!

Better to watch it at home

by DogLoverInToronto on 7/13/15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

It was great seeing the athletes so close....their positive attitudes, high energy and enthusiasm but the show itself was very poor. The sound system was terrible. Even for top of the line tickets, you couldn't see anything. Plus for the cost, you would expect maybe a program or something. 1 star for the venue and 4 stars for the athletes!

    Why was it so dark?

by Hookem2 on 7/13/15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

my first ever opening ceremonies and I'm glad that they had someting to entertain us as we waited (comedians and canadian tv hosts). Acoustics were great. But TV monitors were so small Also, why was it so dark and took forever to get out of the damn place?

    Pan Am Opening Ceremonies

by Oakvillefan on 7/13/15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

We attended the opening ceremonies and were requested to be seated by 6:45pm at Rogers Centre. There was NO music or any real entertainment during the 90 mins we all waited for the start. The comedians they had on stage were a waste of time as no one could hear them no see them as the stage was SO FAR from the audience seating. Pan Am Opening Ceremonies organizers got this so wrong.. they should have had a DJ playing fun music or some local Toronto bands warming up the audience and keeping people from getting so bored. Once the event started it was good. Parade of Nations was fun. Cirque du Soleil was great but the Rogers Centre is far too big for their type of show. Without binoculars you couldn't see much of what was going on and the screens behind the performers did not project their act. We didn't have the benefit of the voice over announcer who explained what was going on during the show and at times it was boring and dragged on. The speeches were too long and there was a mass exodus of people during the speeches. Rogers couldn't get the AC right so it was hot and stuffy inside. Next time we will watch on TV!!

    Spectacular Opening Cetemony

by chick256 on 7/13/15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

I loved everything about the Pan Am Opening Ceremonies. Watching the athletes coming into the stadium was a proud moment for both them and us, the audience. Cirque Du Soleil was incredible. By far my favourite was the bicycle stunts, it had me on the edge of my seat. My only disappointment was the dome not being open for the fireworks. The event was well worth the price of the ticket.

    Once in a lifetime

by Gman0127 on 7/13/15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

Spectacular event which comes only once in a lifetime. Being 4 rows from the action and athletes was special and the energy in the Rogers Centre was similar to what I experienced during the World Series in 1992 and 1993.
