About

About Peach Music Festival

The Peach Music Festival is a jam fan's dream: a four-day stream of freewheelin' tunes in a supremely gorgeous natural setting, with plenty of campsites and farm-fresh grub to go around. While some might be dismayed to learn the name doesn't mean fuzzy fruit will be falling from the trees on Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania, rock lovers ought to be comforted to know it's a reference to the ubiquitous symbol of the Allman Brothers Band. Not only is the 1960s-formed Georgia group recognized as the first great jam band, they're actually the organizers behind this event. Headliners in 2019 are the cream of the improvisatory crop: the Trey Anastasio Band from Phish's frontman; the String Cheese Incident; and Phil Lesh & Friends, which will include ABB guitarist Warren Haynes, plus John Scofield and John Molo.

Founded in 2012, the Peach is a family-friendly trip back to an era of peace, love, and happily never-ending grooves. But there's at least one particularly modern twist: while Montage is a major skiing destination in the winter, in the summer the snowpack gives way to a sizeable waterpark and festivalgoers have full access to all of it, from the lazy river, to various slides, to a mellow wave pool that's well within earshot of the Mushroom Stage. There's onsite camping as well as luxe mountaintop glamping options accessible by ski lift, RV options for those who embrace the van life, and travel packages that include stays at nearby hotels and inns. Kids 5 and under are free, water-bottle fill stations abound, and the music flows into the wee hours.

Over the years, Peach has welcomed a broad swath of bands who find a home under the jam umbrella — in other words, fundamentally rock acts who may lean toward country, blues, jazz, folk, psychedelia, reggae, or funk. The connective tissue between them all is easy vibes, wild instrumentals, and onstage synergy. Repeat performers include jam favorites like Umphrey's McGee, Blues Traveler, moe., and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, while various Allman spinoffs — Gov't Mule, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, Tedeschi Trucks — often appear. In 2014 the Brothers themselves performed their 1972 classic Eat a Peach all the way through, but as players are known to sit in with each other's bands, once-in-a-lifetime sets are a perennial guarantee.

Had an awesome time camping and seeing all the bands. The scene was easy going and we really enjoyed partying and jamming with the Allman Bros, Gov't Mule, Bobby and Black Crowes. Would definitely go next year.

Actually super awesome great for families

by serfmunke on 8/21/13Toyota Pavilion At Montage Mountain - Scranton

I just bought a day pass so not sure how the camping was. We RV now so we are usually fine with any noise. There were families all over the back lawn, playing, it was great! The water park was wonderful for little ones, water a tad cold but they never really care. One complaint, not being able to bring beer from water park area into the main stage area. So bring your stroller and hide the beer in there, smile at the guys checking and they let you right in. Also, Sunday at the end, a tour bus almost ran over some kids in a wagon!!! Not sure whose bus but it was the second to the last to leave.

Allman Brothers Band at Peach Festival

by Skydawg715 on 8/21/13Toyota Pavilion At Montage Mountain - Scranton

My 5-star rating is strictly for the performance of the Allman Brothers Band, whose concerts I have attended since seeing the original lineup in 1971. My wife and I see between 4-6 of their performances every year, usually going to consecutive nights at the Beacon Theater to hear two different sets -- which we did at the Peach Festival. The band came out strong Friday and played some of our favorites, and Saturday may have been even tighter, but I haven't had the opportunity yet to sit back and listed to the CD recordings. As for the venue itself, Obama and Clinton must have been in charge of security, because the crowd control was horrible as far as not clearing people from standing between the second section of seating and the boxes that seperate the 100 and 200 section. Fortunately, we have friends who own a box and we sat with them and could see and hear the show.

    Peach Music Fest was Amazing!

by Spine817 on 8/20/13Toyota Pavilion At Montage Mountain - Scranton

From the moment we walked into the Toyota Pavillion we knew this was going to be an awesome event! The venue was big, bright and had a great vibe. The opening acts were all great. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals BLEW THE ROOF OFF THE JOINT! She had unbelievable energy. If anyone was sitting during her performance they should have their pulse checked. Bob Wier and Ratdog provided their usual instrumental and "Heady" excellence. Gov't Mule got the place up and rocking as a prelude to the always great Allman Brothers Band. The Allman Brothers Band killed it. The total experience was fun and stress-free. Even the vendors for the festival were fun. Eclectic products, gracious merchants, and very reasonable prices. I would definitly make sure to get to the Peach Music Festival next year! Can't wait!

    Coming back next year!

by seastarfish on 8/20/13Toyota Pavilion At Montage Mountain - Scranton

My first time seeing an Allman Brothers show even though I have been a longtime fan. The whole weekend was amazing, the crowd was awesome and the event was very well put together. Variety and quality of the food was very good and having the waterpark right there made it even better. The stage setup here was perfect - I've been to other festivals where the stages were set up in such a way that the acts are almost playing over one another, not so here. Great venue.

Ya just can't beat having brunch with Bobby!

by Rangos on 8/20/13Toyota Pavilion At Montage Mountain - Scranton

RatDog was such a treat! So nice to see them again. Gov't Mule? Warren? What a set! Of course, ABB was fabulous. Sat nite's show with Derrick & Warren just wailing away was beautiful. Greg's playing & his voice were in fine form. The venue was perfect, clean, well-maintained; the staff was polite; the security was hanging perfectly in the background; no hassles whatsoever. Plenty of food options around. Beer was expensive, but the wine cups in the bar at Mushroom stage on Thurs night were very generously filled. It was helpful to have the Farmer's Market. Stayed in the RV area & the pump trucks didn't come around until Sunday afternoon & were too pricey ( $50!! ) anyways. No recycle or garbage bags were given out - minor inconvenience though. We had an awesome weekend and would come back again.
