About

Syracuse Orange Football at JMA Wireless Dome

The big, echoing Loud House is one of college sports' most iconic venues, a response to a question that no one was asking, but everyone was delighted to learn the answer to: What would it be like if sports were played in an enormous bubble? Syracuse's football, basketball and lacrosse teams all do battle under the signature inflatable roof of the JMA Wireless Dome. The stadium opened in 1980, with an HVAC company lending its name (but not its air-conditioning units, as many sweaty fans have noticed over the years). Today, the JMA Wireless Dome is the largest domed stadium on any college campus, with a seating capacity for football games of nearly 50,000. In 2018, the university announced it would do away with the bubble roof, replacing it with a fixed roof, parts of which would be translucent.

If you're going to a game, be sure to check out the statue of Syracuse great Ernie Davis, the first black man to win a Heisman Trophy. It's located between the JMA Wireless Dome and the nearby quad. And don't forget to do a Dome Stomp in the channels of the stadium's outer walls. Stand in one of the grooves, jump up and slam your feet on the ground. You'll make your own thunder.

Syracuse Orange Football History

Since its founding in 1889, Syracuse football has racked up more than 700 wins and one consensus national championship (for the 1959 season). More than anything, though, it is best known for the players who've passed through this part of Central New York. Look no further than the guys who've worn Syracuse's No. 44. They include three of the greatest running backs ever to put on cleats: Jim Brown (a lacrosse superstar as well), Ernie "The Elmira Express" Davis and Floyd Little (who broke the rushing records set by Davis and Brown before him).

    Great day in the Bronx

by Don on 11/14/23Yankee Stadium - Bronx

My wife and I had a great time at the game. We met our friend there. Enjoyed listening to the Syracuse band before and at halftime. It was wonderful seeing so many people enjoying football at Yankee Stadium. We love going to the Stadium for football.

    It wasn't bad

by Minnesota Parrothead on 11/6/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The JMA Wireless dome wasn't too bad. The concourses are REALLY tight and they serve Pepsi which is always not my preference. I wish there was more of a college experience around the dome but that area is really tight. Once you're inside the dome it was pretty cool.

    So much for family weekend

by Lana on 11/6/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Not ticketmaster's fault, but I'll post this anyway. I purchased 4 tickets, so we could visit with our son at the game since we were visiting for Family Weekend. When we got there two of our seats were occupied by other people. I tried to reason with the people sitting our seats, and i even showed them my phone to show that they were in our seats. They said that the usher put them there, and so I showed the usher my tickets. I got so overcrowded in our section, that my son left and went to sit with his friends bc they texted and said they had some extra room in their section. It took about 45 minutes and a near miss fist-fight between two other guys sitting next to us, for the usher to come over and make everyone show her their tickets and get it straightened out. My husband and I didn't get to sit with our son and the entire experience was miserable.

    Fun and Frustrating

by Jim on 11/6/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The JAM Dome in Syracuse is a good venue. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Sight lines are excellent. We did have trouble accessing our mobile tickets at entry. Oh, how we long for the days of paper tickets.

    Could it get any duller?

by Mellanis on 11/6/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

I’ll never pay to watch another ‘Cuse game at the JMA dome. The constant 2-3 minute commercials breaks just suck the life out of any intensity or interest in the football game. These games should not take 4 hours to watch. It’s just not that good. Heck, who wants to watch anything for 4 hours?? Think about it - mediocre college football does not entertain for 4 hours. Save your money and watch it at home and order in amazing food while guzzling your favorite beverage. You’ll thank me!

    Fantastic Event & Venue

by FMK3 on 10/5/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Parking and getting to the stadium via Skytop was spot on. The Dome is fun, loud and clean! The Campus is beautiful. The only down side = Clemson won.

    Game Day Orange

by Jdog on 10/4/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The check-in process with Security could be improved. I didn't know the dome policy for bringing bags was one limited to one clear bag. I tried bringing in my bag, and they didn't let me (which I understand). They did eventually let me bring in the bag. I would have been willing to let them search my bag (I didn't have anything to hide), but instead they proceeded to interogate me with a series of questions. Obviously I was attending the game, and the interogation wasn't necessary. They should have just asked to search my bag, which I would've let them, and then the matter would have been resolved. Payment options at the dome concessions should be expanded to accept cash.

    Bad Start

by AuburnFrank on 10/3/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

SU got off to a bad start and had a hard time mentally recovering from their mistakes. I would say that they beat themselves rather than lost to Clemson. They need to regather their composure for this next game and put Clemson behind them.
