Extremely well-choreographed - the dance routines, story line, character development and set were highly professional. It was an enjoyable evening and the high energy of the performers was evident throughout the production. The only suggestion would be to marginally improve the quality of the lead singers. Although passable, for a mainstream Vegas production, it didn't quite meet the necessary standards of quality that competing shows offer. Regardless, I would still recommend the musical for an enjoyable evening in Vegas.
I like Planet Hollywoods small theatre which makes it nice for everyone, regardless of their seating. I took my parents for my dad's birthday and they loved it. My mom didn't know there was a little story to this show, so that made it more interesting for her....she thought it was only a concert! These songs brought back memories of when we were little and only got to look at my cousins having parties which we weren't allowed to participate in. I remember they really did dress like that too! lol! It's great for the whole family~
I wanted the show to be wonderful. Love the Beach Boys music, but the storyline was totally uninteresting, and it's been done over and over. The leads were charming. I really enjoyed them, and the rest of the cast was a talented group, and I wish them well. Sorry I couldn't say anything nicer. I loved the Billy Joel musical that recently played the country, and I was hoping for a similar treatment of Beach Boys music.
Great show, liked it better than Mamma Mia. Wish there was more people there to appreciate it.
Fans of the Beach Boys will love the timeless music, but even those not familiar with the Beach Boys will enjoy this fast moving, entertaining show. The show is upbeat and everyone leaves with a smile. All of the greatest hits are here, as well as some lesser known ones, all building up to a finale of all-time classics.
The best part of this production was the sets! Absolutely magnificent. The dancing was excellent, and the story was "pretty good"....they did a good job matching it to the music. There were scenes that reminded me of my teen-age years...some of the acting, at times, was a bit weak, but they usually "came back" as the production proceeded. There is probably a bit of "tweaking" needed; the strongest role, I think, was Nick. The actor was smooth and fit in with the story. There were times that the singing was "not as good as could be", but I think that just takes some more practice and "fixing". Overall? A really good production!
so much energy, music and dance was terrific... highly entertaining and well done
I thought it was a wonderful musical. The choreography was outstanding, the special visual effects were wonderful. If Jersey Boys is a "10", "Surf" is a "9.5" in my book. Because the music is so new - I was disappointed to see the theater less than 25% full. Stay the course, the more people that see "Surf", I have a feeling it'll gain the same popularity as "Jersey Boys". Great acting - great singing ... fabulous presentation. I would see it again.
It's corny - no story line. Only good things are the Beach Boys Music and Nelson
