About

Supertramp celebrated over 40 years of hit making with their recent 70-10 tour, having brought their signature mix of rock styles to a brand new set of fans across the world. It was this mix, which features the best elements of progressive rock, classic rock and catchy synth pop, that elevated radio-friendly rock to a new art. The tour, which received terrific reviews from both fans and press alike, was notable for the still-solid chemistry between band mates. The fun on the stage was infectious for ticket buyers as well, who seemed to be in perfect sync with the excitement the band generated. Supertramp concerts deliver the hits that elevated their 1979 album, Breakfast in America, to No. 1 in the United States. Songs like "The Logical Song," with its bouncy spirit and playful, intelligent lyrics, remain on the playlist of every classic rock station to this day.

The British band began in 1969, with founding member, keyboardist Rick Davies, recruiting three others musicians. One of these included Roger Hodgson, who, with Davies, would make up the core of the band for many years. After a somewhat slow start and a couple of personnel changes, Hodgson and Davies' collaborative songs caught on, and Supertramp was off and running. "The Logical Song," "Dreamer," "Take the Long Way Home" and others defined the Supertramp sound, combining fun, catchy riffs and lyrics with superb musicianship. Their song "Give a Little Bit" enjoyed a resurgence of fandom and popularity when it was covered by the Goo Goo Dolls in 2005. Supertramp's music is complex enough to be judged for its artistic merit, while still remaining highly accessible to the average radio listener. Simply put, Supertramp is art pop of a truly high order.

    Supertramp

Great show! The sound was superior as always for a Supertramp show. Incredible musicians. Too bad there were only 4000 people.

    Great Trip back in time!

by RodeoRoyGalPalDonna on 6/7/11Rexall Place - Edmonton

It was fun to watch a band we haven't seen in Edmonton since 1979 come back and perform classic hits and like true professionals give you 26 songs including 3 in the encore. The new and younger lead vocals not only infuse some new energy into the music but they also were wonderful performers who have the daunting task of "sounding" like Roger Hodgson without "imitating" him. Rick Davies and John Helliwell pull it all together in terms of continuity and integrity of the "Supertramp Sound & Identity". Lots of fun.

    Supertramp plays Calgary

    by Bommer2 on 6/6/11Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Late in getting tickets. Seats better than expected with a close upfront, side view of the stage. Extremely enjoyable with most of their hits covered

Fabulous! It took a little while for the audience to get involved, but after a run of songs from Breakfast in America, the crowd really got into it. I felt twenty years old again.

    Supertramp still has the mojo

by Shadorne on 6/6/11Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Great show. Rick Davies is the real star behind Supertramp. His stuff is less well known but his writing is more complex, sophisticated and lasting. An extremely enjoyable show. Well worth it even though Roger Hodson was not there the crew still did justice to his more catchy pop tunes too.
