Great night all around! Superchunk nailed it, sounded amazing and brought me back to a different time in my life. The Somerville Theatre was a great intimate setting and perfect host to a much respected band.
Kids today with their liáis rock music. Loved this because I didn’t need earplugs and I could sit down. I’m old. Uuuuuuuuuuuh.
It was a great show with great sound and a great set list. Superchunk is re-invigorated by the political situation in our country. This new album is one of the best albums of their discography.
An audience of primarily white, primarily male, primarily plaid-covered, primarily middle-aged Superchunk fans gathered for a sold-out show that was bliss from beginning to end. The band mixed songs from their new album "I Hate Music" with many from earlier days, hitting some of my favorites and getting my old legs jumping. Eleanor Friedberger joined the group after the first encore (there were two) to sing two songs--the first a cover of Patti Smith's "Free Money" from Horses that was just wonderful, the second (my partner and I thought) an obscure Ramone's song. Really, this is a great show to catch as they are doing an excellent job are having a great time as well. I am deeply impressed at how fit and healthy they all are and how much they can still jump around while pumping out the sound. Bring your ear plugs if you like your ear drums to last.
I live in San Diego and I came all the way out for both the shows in NYC. My buddies and I all met up in New York to see them and Superchunk was amazing. The Saturday night show especially will be a memory I will never forget. It was the 6th time to see them and my mind was blown. I’ve seen them back in their “heyday” (in 1993 and 1997) and they were just as good if not better. Mac has more energy than a nuclear power plant…all over the stage and everyone was just giving it their all. The crowd in NYC was fantastic. A bunch of 35 to 45 year olds dancing, bumping around, singing, yelling and everyone being very cool. It was an awesome rock moment.
Superchunk opened the show on high energy. Mac doesn't age, does he? A perfect mix of songs from the new album interspersed with classics in an hour-long set that barely took a rest. A sold out included Kim Gordon, and I sat at her RESERVED table, in the hopes that she would be the one to kick me out. From the balcony it was a perfect view of the maniacal crowd. With an epic encore, my evening was complete.
Loved seeing Superchunk! It was a great show with lots of energy! Mac was bouncing around which made it hard to stay still on the floor. Missed Laura though!

Awesome show - the band was glad to be in Detroit and they rocked until they almost dropped - great venue - accessible bar - a wonderful night!
