The Stylistics Live In Concert

Many band members have come and gone from this iconic group. When The Stylistics formed in 1968, the group consisted of Russell Thompkins Jr., Herb Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith, and James Dunn. Combining members from two former groups, The Percussions and The Monarchs, they came together to form The Stylistics that fans know and love. In 1970, The Stylistics recorded "You're A Big Girl Now," which landed them a record deal at Avco Records. The single quickly climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard R&B charts. Producer Thom Bell, agreed to work with the group solely based on the potential of Thompkins' distinct falsetto. Bell took complete control of the group, with every song he produced becoming a Top 10 R&B hit, and several landing on the Top 10 pop chart hits. In 1981, Dunn and Smith both departed the group, and The Stylistics subsequently recruited Raymond Johnson until his departure in 1985. In 2018, The Stylistics celebrated an incredible 50-year anniversary. Flash forward to 2020, the remaining members of the original group, Love and Murrell, are still performing. Thompkins left the group to begin a solo career and he continues to perform as well. The current members are Love, Murrell, Jason Sharp, and Barrington "Bo" Henderson.
