Stuart McLean.......a one of a kind!

by TF919081 on 4/27/15Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

Stuart McLean and his Vinyl Cafe bring such a unique form of entertainment to his audience. His stories of the continuing antics of Dave, a fictional used record store owner, are both heart warming and hilarious. This particular show, at The Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, was inviting and intimate. Stuart engaged his audience throughout the show. He brought some younger members of the crowd up on the stage to help hand out freebies. He answered audience questions. And, of course, his stories are second to none. Combine the above with a fantastic musical guest, The Birds of Chicago, you have a one of a kind show that only Stuart McLean can provide. This was definitely the highlight of the year so far.

    Really entertaining!

by ZoeysWalker on 4/26/15Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

To be truthful, I was there for Birds of Chicago, the musical act on the Vinyl Cafe program. They are fantastic and, of course, did not disappoint. I even heard audience members who had never heard them saying how good they were!! But I was enchanted with Stuart McLean's stories! So funny and his body movements were hilarious. A very enjoyable evening.

drove 2 hours after work from Ohio to get to Michigan to see the vinyl café live for the first time. the campus of Michigan is beautiful, that coming from a lifelong buckeye. parking was easy and affordable. had dinner at the knights steakhouse across the street. the theater is gorgeous. the staff was kind and helpful. Stuart was what I expected. a wonderful live storyteller, pleasant, humble and engaged with the audience. only regret was we didn't allow more time to enjoy all the shops on east liberty

    Stuart McLean was very good

by BillyDavey on 4/26/15Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

McLean's story telling was excellent and Birds of Chicago were excellent. McLeans mannerisms were a little disconcerting to start with but easily got used to.

A great event for Vinyl Cafe fans.

by Tuneposter on 4/26/15Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

For 15 years, at least, Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe have been one of our favorite CBC radio programs. Several years back, we traveled to Kingsville, ON to see the show in person and meet Stuart. We are very happy that he has scheduled more road shows in the States in the past few years but never thought he would make it to Ann Arbor. Thankfully, he did. The show was not well attended. I suspect that the next time, it will be. There is something about being there as the stories are told that is magic.

    Gifted Storyteller

by HerbandEffie on 4/26/15Michigan Theater - Ann Arbor

Stuart McLean is a friendly host and he has spontaneous humor, reacting to the audience. Since I had only heard him on the radio, it took me a while to get used to his storytelling gestures. He makes the audience feel very comfortable, like old friends. The music he brought to the show fit perfectly with his personality: smoothly talented, not loud pop, and musically just right for this show.

Vinyl Cafe was a fantastic show

by mrslaugie on 2/22/12Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Watching the Vinyl Cafe at the Winnipeg Centennial Center was one of my best-spent Sunday afternoons ever. Stuart McLean's stories prove that humor can be clever, heart-warming, gut-bustingly funny and clean. It's wonderful family entertainment. It was fun to see Stuart telling his stories. It's as if he's put them to dance! Music entertainment was wonderful, too.
