About

Commemorating 40 years of recording and releasing music, Stryper continues to churn out rock-solid albums and pulsating live performances. The hardworking group shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Following on the heels of their successful studio project The Final Battle (Frontiers Music Srl), the definitive foursome released their first-ever acoustic album Acousticyzed on February 16, 2024. The double-disc set features an audio CD and DVD/Blu-ray video recorded and filmed at SpiritHouse Studios in western Massachusetts.

The 11-track acoustic collection features stripped-down versions of Stryper's classic songs - ranging from energized tracks "Loud & Clear" and "Soldiers Under Command" to power ballad "Honestly" - plus a never-before-released version of enduring hymn "Amazing Grace." The video unveils an up-close look at band members performing the album live in the studio.

For a limited time this spring, "To Hell with the Amps: The Unplugged Tour" will feature Stryper playing the entirety of the acoustic project during each performance.

"We're excited to show people a totally different translation of these songs," says lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Michael Sweet. "Most of the acoustic shows will be set in smaller, more intimate venues, and the set is naturally more toned down. It will feel like a family affair, like everyone is sitting in our living room listening to us play."

Sweet adds that the band will follow the acoustic stints with a full-on 40th anniversary tour kicking off September 13, 2024.

"The anniversary tour will feature songs ranging across our entire discography," he reveals. "We'll perform a set consisting of our classic songs, then play a second set containing more recent material."

Sweet further shares that the band's live shows will feature everything from heightened production to variations in wardrobe.

"We will be changing outfits from a classic look to a modern look, with production to match," Sweet says. "It will definitely be unprecedented because it's important to come up with a unique way for fans to celebrate this milestone anniversary with us."

In addition, the band plans to offer an exclusive pre-show VIP experience for its loyal devotees. A 45-minute encounter with Stryper will include a private screening of a short film featuring archival footage and photos and a brief Q&A session with the bandmates.

As for future endeavors, the band just wrapped recording another full-length studio album Sweet describes as "all killer and no filler." The anticipated release date is fall 2024.

"We're hoping it will continue the trend of our music getting better with each release," Sweet says. "It's loaded with high-quality tunes and great energy."

Stryper also has made solid progress on a much-anticipated Kickstarter-fueled documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a "Projects We Love" tag on the popular crowdfunding platform.

"We found a brilliant director, Chris Atkins, and it's being filmed now," says Sweet, adding that footage will be captured throughout the rest of this year.  "We're excited to see it's finally happening."

When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard-rock genre, Stryper is renowned for its distinctive brand of "heavenly metal," extraordinary crossover success and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like "Calling on You," "Honestly" and "Always There for You."

Stryper's career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986's multiplatinum release To Hell with the Devil. The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously in MTV's Top 10 with videos "Free" and "Honestly."

Today, some 40 years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, the foursome continues to record, tour and perform for devoted fans around the globe. Comprising three original members including brothers Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet (drums) and Oz Fox (guitar) plus longtime bandmate and veteran bassist Perry Richardson, the group finds itself continuing to create their finest, most powerful music yet.

by TAKER on 9/19/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

Man, I saw these guys at magic mountain in California in 1985 at the beginning of the 80s metal era. They were new and different and totally smokin then it is very cool to hear them 38 years later and they’re still just as tight as they were back in the day with a whole bunch of new stuff they just keep cranking out. Great show, even Greater message! Amazing to hear Michael Sweets melodic Screaming voice is better than ever and the guitars are Crunchin as ever!! Love these guys they have influenced me and many people for the good, Great to see them still Rockin as the world falls apart! Keep rocking out the truth brothers!

Dream come true! Stryper still got it!

by Mr. Gómez on 9/19/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

I waited 36 years for this moment, since 1987 when a 10 years old me discovered their music back in Puerto Rico! The concert was amazing, it was in a Small venue( that made it even better) I was right in front of the stage and I got to meet them too. This band is the real deal when it comes to their message of hope, professionalism and excellent musicianship live and Michael Sweet still has his vocals. Thank you Stryper for your music for almost 40 years.

    Amazing performance

by Buster on 9/18/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

I’ve been seeing these guys since the 80s. They are on a whole other level technically. The mix at the Talley Ho was spot one. The crowd was energetic. These guys bring their A game. Can’t wait for the 40th anniversary tour next year. I hope they come back to the Tally Ho!

    Rockin’ for the Rock

by Sandy on 9/18/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

From standing in line to the last note, this Stryper concert was an absolutely well orchestrated experience. It had a feel of more like long time friends finally seeing each other for the first time in a while than fans separated from the stars in stage. The message of the band is louder than their amplifiers and stronger now than at any time in their career: Jesus is King and God is Sovereign. All ages and abilities could be found in attendance and all were treated as equals by the band ( I attended a Meet and Greet). Stryper is a must see band for the energy and charisma that they still possess after almost 40 years in the biz.

Great show. Both bands- Vocals and musically. Great venue. Large crowd but not overcrowded. Everyone seemed to of had a great time, even with the opening act, Behold The Beloved. Would see them both again.

    Stryper Rocks

by Black Rock Momma on 9/18/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

I throughly enjoyed myself at Talley Ho in Virginia! Stryper rocked the house as per usual and the opening band sounded pretty good as well. The meet and greet was rushed, but at least I got to speak with one of my favorite band, since high school!

    An amazing show

by JB on 9/18/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

Another amazing show by Stryper. The sound was mixed really well and their live show is simply great. Michael still sounds great and the harmonies are still on point. Best concert I've been to in a long time.

Band was excellent, venue was lacking

by Garry on 9/18/23Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

Stryper sounded excellent. A well-varied setlist of new and old, in support of their last 4 released albums over the last 10 years, being their most solid, and heaviest material. Venue too small, elbow to elbow, NO place to sit and get off your feet for a bit. Bartenders were friendly, attentive, and speedy.

    1st time seeing Stryper live

    by Bunky Boy on 8/22/23

Drove 6 hrs to Biloxi to see Stryper live for the first time and they didn't disappoint! Awesome show! The guitar power cords and solos were on point and after 40 years of singing, Michael's vocals were pretty damn good as well! I would love to see them again, maybe soon.
