STEVEN WILSON IN CONCERT:
From his days fronting beloved groups like Porcupine Tree and No-Man to his acclaimed recent solo work, prog rock veteran Steven Wilson has been a beacon of experimentation and innovation in British music. Wilson's extremely diverse musical past is ever-present on his fourth solo effort, 2015's Hand. Cannot. Erase., an ambitious concept album that features a staggering range of musical styles, instruments, and affects. The through line of both the album and Wilson's marathon live shows is his technical virtuosity and willingness to take risks, a quality that makes his epic performances supremely exciting affairs. From jaw-dropping solos and extended breakdowns to Wilson's signature barefooted stage moves, ticket buyers can expect an electrifying and unforgettable concert experience.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in suburban London, Steven Wilson traces his love of music back to the first LPs he received as a Christmas gift from his parents -- Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon and Donna Summer's Love to Love You Baby. By 11 he was playing the guitar and experimenting with a multi-track tape machine and a vocoder built by his electronic engineer father. Wilson played in various prog and experimental groups during his teens, and in 1986 he started the two projects that would define his early success: No-Man, a rock and synthpop outfit and Porcupine Tree, an experimental psychedelic rock band. By 1990 No-Man was generating major buzz, landing several singles on Melody Maker's coveted Single of the Week list including a cover of Donovan's "Colours". At the same time, Wilson's more experimental work with Porcupine Tree was also gaining underground success with a series of extremely limited releases that remain coveted cult classics today. Wilson began releasing solo material in 2003, starting with a series of cover albums before releasing his official solo debut album Insurgentes in 2008. Since then he has released three more albums including 2015's highly anticipated Hand. Cannot. Erase, a critically acclaimed album collection that fans are eager to see performed live.

What a great show. Steven is very connected with the audience, telling stories about himself and the songs. His band is an amazing group of talent. They played a nice mix of his solo and Porcupine Tree material. I have my son to thank for introducing me to his music several years ago. He is also a master producer, so go and check out his brilliant work on the Jethro, Tull, Yes, Gentle Giant and early Chicago remasters!
Wilson is a great musician. The venue sucked. No sitting. Standing up for 3 hours was difficult for aging bodies.
What a privilege to have sucha wonderful great musicians and Steven in South Florida and in this kind of intimate venue... just think about someone recently having sold out shows at iconic places like Royal Albert Hall and having them in two back to back evenings in a vibrant venue like culture room. Great show, great music, great evening
It was mind-boggling to think that I was watching the same artist that I watch on Blu-Ray performing at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall at this rather odd and isolated, but cozy venue in the sticks of Florida on a Sunday night in late December.... The show was absolutely top-notch - the musicians are all amazing consummate professionals and they passionately rendered stellar compositions that spanned Steven's artistic career. They appeared to be having quite a bit of fun ("where's the one?" game with drummer Craig Blundell) and Steven warmly addressed the audience. The setlist was GREAT featuring gems from Steven's solo and Porcupine Tree catalog. The Ponte Vedra Concert hall is so oddly situated - along the coast, bordering a housing community - not a single restaurant could be found within miles... thankfully the venue had a little food to nibble on. Steven announced at the show that the venue had a strict 10 pm curfew - the band packed most of their show, minus a couple songs and an intermission, into 2 1/2 hours of musical presentation. Then there was the matter of a Sunday night; I realize the logistics of a tour place dates where they can - but for late December, in an area that even the band didn't know where they heck they were seem like such an odd choice - who booked this tour (Andy?) Most people we met had driven from Orlando (as we did) or further afoot to see this show; and though he had a decent crowd (maybe a few hundred), I am certain he would have had twice the crowd in a more centrally located urban area such as Orlando (plus he could have noted Orlando's sad connection to the song "Detonation") and on any night but Sunday. So, in summary, great show! odd location and night. It was a bit surreal.
Amazing show! Venue is perfect. Free parking!! Staff was wonderful. Looking forward to another show here in future
Steven Wilson far exceeded my expectations! Fantastic concert and venue... A+++
Stunning and unforgettable show! Don’t miss it !!!!
Once again... another outstanding performance by Steven Wilson et al. This time the performance was in the smallest venue that I have seen them play....very intimate, which could be a problem for some...but not for me....and I'm not young 😉. The boys seemed relaxed albeit tired from their extensive tour but DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I'm looking forward to seeing them again and eagerly awaiting for Sir Wilson's next musical efforts will be.
As a jaded concert goer I was not prepared to have been so impressed by Steven Wilson and his stellar band. I was new to catch on to him and there were many devout fans that flew in from all over and knew every song. That will be me next time. The music was Superb and haunting. He has tremendous charisma and a beautiful voice. He commands the stage. The entire experience was extraordinary. Not to be missed!
