Every bit as good as I remembered

by BigRube on 9/30/12Birchmere - Alexandria

Stephen Wade is fun to listen to and a gas to watch, he's so quirky. But he's very knowledgeable about the history of banjo and old time American music, and he obviously gets a lot of satisfaction sharing what he's learned. What an enjoyable way to spend an evening, great music and a bit of musical history. Wade is backed up by an incredible group of musicians, most of whom can play a variety of instruments. Especially fun was the washboard number, and almost any time the fiddler was going.

    Entertaining, scholarly, and fun!

by Lotsamemry on 9/30/12Birchmere - Alexandria

Five musician scholars (Danny Knicely, James Leva, Russ Hooper, Zan McLeod, and Mike Craver) , led by Stephen Wade presenting a mix of photos, music, and singing based on the roots we all share. The performance was extremely entertaining. My wife and I are still talking about our experience three days after the performance! Stephen's informative descriptions and his quirky comments had the audience (as well as the other musicians) all chuckling throughout the show! It was really fun to hear his anecdotes about the great musicians from the past and his personal interactions with them. It was super fun, and we hope Stephen gives another show soon.
