    Stellar as usual

by olesinger on 2/13/12Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

From the opening, unified chords to the closing, rousing spiritual, nothing about this concert or choir disappointed. I come see them whenever they are in town.

    Choral perfection!

by Zenithskara on 2/13/12Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Not only does the St Olaf Choir sing with beauty and precise harmonies and rhythms, their diction is a wonder to behold. Every word is clearly understood. Soloists were purely beautiful. They never disappoint.

Outstanding performance by St. Olaf College!

by Fusu on 2/4/12Progress Energy Center Meymandi Concert Hall - Raleigh

The Thursday performance by St. Olaf's Choir at Meymandi Hall was well worth the drive from eastern North Carolina. What a wonderful concert. Anyone who missed this one should be sure to catch the presentation the next time they are in the area.

    Best Concert of My Life

by LutheranNCMCSinger on 2/4/12Progress Energy Center Meymandi Concert Hall - Raleigh

This was the best concert I've ever attended in all my 51 years. I hope St. Olaf Choir will return to the Triangle again soon. I was blown away by their performance, their history, their conductor, and the inspiration of their Christian faith as Lutherans.

St. Olaf Choir -- beyond superb!

by Mothermusic on 2/4/12Progress Energy Center Meymandi Concert Hall - Raleigh

We planned to attend this concert as part of my birthday celebration. We live 2 hours away from Raleigh. We have heard St. Olaf Choir several times at national choral directors' conferences, and I have met Dr. Armstrong. We knew beforehand that this would be an outstanding concert experience. We arrived early and enjoyed the short film of St. Olaf Choir's 100-history and comments by Dr. Armstrong, his predecessor director, past and present choir members. It really enhanced the concert to know this background and context. The concert program was comprehensive and impeccable. The Palestrina was heavenly, the Bach with chamber orchestra was a true delight. Including 3 new commissioned works in the program was exciting. Dr. Armstrong commented that he chooses composers who understand the sound of this choir, and therefore their commissioned works are well-suited to St. Olaf. It was also exciting to hear Latin, German, Norwegian, and English. Dr. Armstrong's comments on arts advocacy were timely and poignant. To cut the arts from education in order to save money is a huge mistake. He stated that the arts contribute to shaping our humanity.

    Outstanding and inspiring!

by Cubbymom on 2/4/12Progress Energy Center Meymandi Concert Hall - Raleigh

The high level of professionalism of these well-trained "kids" is amazing. The entire program was wonderfully rendered....I didn't want it to end. What a treasure this group is!
