    Sparks in Texas

    by Ty on 7/18/23

Great Show, great band, another 15-20 minutes more and I would have been completely satisfied. there were a two or three songs near the beginning of the set that lagged a bit and if the set is that long, it would have been better used on National Crime Awareness Week, Sheherazade, iPhone, Your Fandango, etc. It was an L.A. band short set. I think they should have done a second encore judged by the response. l sure am glad I was there! The crowd was great. Moody Center main room sure is moody with it's barren concrete and steel under construction feel , it felt like the show was in a parking garage with a stage. Overall a great band.

    A Wonderful Show

    by Joe Miner on 7/18/23

Unlike bands that have been around for 50 years and are (b)milking audiences for large sums of cash, Sparks is still putting out incredibly well written songs and performing them at a high level. Sure, the backing band might be a tad younger than the Mael brothers, but the energy everyone brings to the show is incredible. The other thing that I learned is that most bands provide the usual cliches regarding "you've been a great audience". This band is genuine in it's appreciation for the audience and that appreciation is reflected back by the audience. Do yourself a favor and go see them live.

    Best Band Ever

    by Melanie on 7/17/23

Sparks is my favorite band and I truly believe they are the best band ever. No other band has a catalog of 26 albums of fresh original music, all written by themselves. These two brothers have maintained a work ethic that is unsurpassed. Yet, despite their ages in the seventies, they retain their full faculties and they give a show full of "spark"and energy! Their music is great to listen to but even better live. I have seen them twice and both times they gave fantastic performances.

The best show! Austin loves Sparks!

    by Marcus Sparkus on 7/16/23

Fantastic set, mix of old songs and new, with the new songs being very well received. Highlights of the show include Ron's dance during the number one song in heaven and vocals on shopping mall of love. Russell's vocals were very good and he kept the crowd going with a very high energy performance. Hopefully they will be back next year!

Some things get better with age

    by Theringleader on 7/8/23

I saw Sparks probably about 30 years ago at Massey Hall in Toronto. They didn’t have a lot of material at that time but Mondays show at the Danforth Music Hall was spectacular!! Playing quite a bit of very danceable tunes, most of which I didn’t know, but that was okay because if you’re good at what you do it should be appreciated. The older songs were played just as great as 30 years ago. Totally enjoyable.

    TIMELESS & ETERNAL

    by Bertha on 7/8/23

I cannot explain what it felt like to be a 64 year old woman singing along to a song I loved at age 15: This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us". Next to me, my 27 year old son who has known this song since he was cruising with me in his toddler seat, kickin' out the jams with Kimono and Propaganda, also singing along. He is now a musician. Long live Sparks! (BTW, I was the crazy lady in the very back jumping around waiving the shirt at the end).

    Sparks! Sounding better than ever!

    by Bertmeister on 7/6/23

Sparks played a 100 min show with 20 songs. Several were from the new LP "The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte." The setlist also included a track from many of their previous albums all the way back to their first one. Sparks were backed by a solid backup band of 2 guitars, bass and drums. The sound was much louder and aggressive than you hear on their recordings but was very impressive. Russell's vocals were still on - even the falsetto parts and Ron's keyboards were front and centre with the driving, big beat melody that they're so well known for. Great execution, great sound, good approriate lighting. It was a solid night of hyper, melodic entertainment from a band that sounds like no other. Can't wait for their return!

The Heroes of Pop Are All That.. And More

    by Plausible Deniability on 7/5/23

I’ve not been in a concert groove for several years as I find large crowds difficult. However, the chance to see Sparks, who I have admired since I was a kid in the late 70’s, at the small and beautiful Lincoln Theater in DC was too much to pass up. When their excellent backing band (fan faves all) stepped out the crowd was electric - Ron and Russell’s arrival was an explosion! Sound and lights were excellent and fun, especially spelling out Beaver O’Lindy, a surprising addition to the setlist. I’ll say what everyone else this tour has said - their energy was amazing, Russ bouncing and singing all across the small stage, delivering the songs with great panache in his black and red. Shopping Mall of Love brought Ron out for his lyrics (YEAH) and RonDance was flawless. Have to add guitarist Eli Pearl’s hip swinging’ as well - and the band are SO. TIGHT. Their showmanship is stellar! A group of guys near us danced and sang during “Balls” and it was just delightful to see - when you go to a show and the fans are this awesome you know you’re in the presence of music legends🎶 My Baby’s Taking Me Home was the highlight for me, the emotion building as the crowd sang and recited the poem with Russ. My heart was full🥰 I wish I could see the rest of the tour! Blessings to Sparks, the band, and fans everywhere!
