Smash was a great choice for the band

by Halfcrazynaz on 1/3/18Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I enjoyed the band more than the DJ. It was disappointing I didn't get champagne for the toast. It seemed like the people on the dance floor missed out on the champagne toast.

    Disappointing

by coyoteman on 1/3/18Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

We have attended Raven’s New Years Eve ball twice now-both times we paid for a booth on the main floor. Two years ago we were treated to a nice Hor Deurve line & received an entire bottle of nice champagne for the midnight countdown. The band that year was awful & we danced very little, except to the DJ’s music. This year there was no Hor Deurve line- instead we were served some skimpy deserts. One glass each of some very cheap champagne was served at midnight this year-it was so bad I didnt even drink it! But the band was awesome & we danced alot!! When you pay $600 for a booth, I think you should get some good snacks to help absorb the alcohol that naturally will be drunk on New Year’s Eve and if you are only given one glass of champange at midnight it should not be “rot-gut” cheap!! When you go to a Black-Tie event the entire venue should be “Black-Tie”- including food, champagne & music, especially when you pay $600 to attend! We will not be attending Raven’s New Years Eve Ball or any Raven’s event in the future!

Band was good, party was not worth it

by Auriga on 11/3/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

The band dressed up as Alex DeLarge and his Droogs from A Clockwork Orange, and they played really well. I've no complaints about the band at all. The rest of the party was a bit of a letdown. Most of the costumes weren't very good, very few of the really great costumes were selected for the contest (it appeared as though the contestants were mostly (all?) VIP attendees), the costume contest itself was an uncomfortably unfunny parade of partiers who battled to do something more crude and hypersexual. Parking at the casino was a real hassle, and you have to walk through the very smoky game room to get to the party, which is gross. Overall, this is not much different than the other Halloween parties that radio stations and hotels do for Halloween, which is to say that if you're not someone who loves to dance and you're really into Halloween festivities, it kind of sucks. You're better off going to Mill Ave or a big private house party, or even out to the pool hall for the evening.

    Not worth the money!

by Lola1965 on 11/3/14Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

The band was awful. The dance floor too small to dance. The crowd was...interesting, but not in a good way. I left after awhile in search of something better.

    It was ok but forgettable

Not worth VIP ticket money - possibly general admission.

The event was average, not great and not horrible. I do think it was way overpriced though. Music could have been a little better, prefer a DJ versus a band. Also wasn't a lot of room to dance and the venue overall was a little small/tight. All in all, something to do. It's Arizona, so not expecting too much.
