    Amazing!

by SouthtoNorth on 3/6/17Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

My friend and I went to Toby's for a girl's night out. We expected an amateur production, so we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the performance. The singing and acting were superb. We highly recommend this show! We intend to come back again!

    SHOW BOAT

by Laneydh on 4/13/13Mobile Civic Center Theater - Mobile

We saw this at Mobile Civic Center Theatre. The show was AWESOME! Great talent! It was perfomed by the the UA Theatre Department. Excellent presentation! The only complaint I had was our seats. I will sit on the floor level from now own. The balcony seats do not have much leg room at all. Very uncomfortable!! Miserable actually.

    Expect better from a University/directing

by EnjoyFineArts on 4/13/13Mobile Civic Center Theater - Mobile

Showboat is a play that is to be spectacular in vision and music, and that is what was expected, not delivered. The sets were very poorly designed and did not suggest the importance of show boats at the time of the story, the sound terrible, and the directing in the case of providing continuity to be able to follow the story, lacking. The costumes did not suggest the time of the story nor presented the idea of the difference between the slaves and richness of the upper class. Individual singers in the play had great voices, when they could be clearly heard, but were not matched very well with their counterparts, at some times leaving much to be desired in the match. The dancing was the best part of the play.

    Outstanding Performance

by Bohunkus on 4/13/13Mobile Civic Center Theater - Mobile

Show Boat performers were terrific in their performance. Changes in scenery were very well planned and carried out. All the performers were outstanding with each of the part they played. The vocals and instrumentals were unbelievably carried out to perfection. The entire show went on without any mistakes or mishaps. It was a very pleasing performance and show.

    Showboat

by Carrot1968 on 4/13/13Mobile Civic Center Theater - Mobile

The music vocally and instrumentally was wonderful. When the actors were speaking the sound system at times made it difficult to hear them well. The dancers and choreography were outstanding. The size of the theatre was perfect so that everyone had a good seat. Old Man River here on the Mobile River was rolling along on April 11. Thank you U of A for ringing this production to us.

    Show Boat in Mobile

by Steveinmobile on 4/13/13Mobile Civic Center Theater - Mobile

The overall production was excellent. Music was very good as was the dancing and costuming. Set was rather simple but worked well. My only real problem was with the sound system. I had some difficulty in following the plot line since it was developed through song and the clarity was lacking. I don't think it was due to the actors, but the system itself.
