Show Biz Kids - the Steely Dan Tribute Tickets

Awesome...these guys were cookin' from the 1st song to the last !!!!!

I understand that Steely Dan is a highly complex band, so accurately reproducing their music is no small task. One of Steely Dan's big selling points, for me anyway, are their guitarists. They have always used some incredibly talented guitarists on their songs. Larry Carlton, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Denny Dias, Elliot Randall... and the list goes on. Unfortunately, while the rest of the musicians in Show Biz Kids were up to the task, especially the drummer, keyboard player and horn section, the guitarists were not. I guess I can say I'm a bit biased, having seen Larry Carlton live just a couple of weeks ago. Also, while the vocals on a couple of the songs were good, on other songs, not so much. I guess the bottom line is, if they were playing in a bar they might be worth a listen, but as a stand alone show costing $25 to see, well, I don't think it was worth it. Show Biz Kids is a band that certainly has potential, but they aren't there yet. .
