transcendent contemporary ballet
by fulmar on 3/21/11University of Denver-Newman Center-Byron Theatre - DenverLemon Spongecake's Shiro Shiro was both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. The minimalist, intimate Byron Theatre was an ideal setting for Robert Sher-Macherndl's elegant, spare choreography. The production values were uniformly high: choreography, execution, music, lighting, and costuming. If you are primarily familiar with classical ballet, Lemon Spongecake provides a beautiful introduction to the contemporary genre. If you are already a fan of contemporary ballet, Robert Sher-Macherndl's productions are not to be missed.
