What an incredible opportunity to have two legends, Dick Cavett, the interviewer, and Shirley MacLaine, the interviewee, review their career highlights and maybe provide some insight to their personal lives. However, Dick Cavett has apparently forgotten his interview skills as unfortunately he did the majority of the talking-- and not asking questions of the person people paid to see and hear in Shirley MacLaine. She was most polite but I'm sure she was as confused as the audience was as to why she was there as she was hardly the focus of the evening -- which was most disappointing. Hopefully Dick will figure it out before his next session with Jane Fonda, but in the meantime, I'm a fan who feels jipped by not getting what I thought I would from the wonderful concept the show was billed as, and I'm sure Shirley feels she wasted her time by just sitting on a stage listening to Dick.
