The kids and Patrick stole the show!

by Seashell0918 on 12/27/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

took my Mom to see this....it was very enjoyable....wish more would have attended! The Child perfomers were terrific! Shirley seemed a bit under the weather...but she deserved props for "the show must go on"!

Good but long & too much irrelevant talking

by Ivar on 12/26/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I liked the show and the Cabrillo performers actually exceeded my expectations. The singing and dancing was very good. However, we brought our young daughter and we struggled toward the end keeping her going because the show was just too long. The show could have been cut down by the ridiculous opening 10-15 min intro/advertisement and the non-holiday pieces. Additionally, the ticket prices were over the top in my opinion (more expensive then the Rockettes that I saw the two weeks ago). As a result, the theater was not nearly filled. I would give the bottom line a maybe for being overpriced.

This was a very uplifting holiday production. A well produced show. A lot of talent on the stage. I wish Shirley Jones had made a comment to everyone that she was recovering from a cold.

    Shirley Jones & Holleywood Orchestra

    by whipple2 on 3/7/10Paramount Theatre - Aurora

It was fun to see and hear anecdotes from the amazing Shirley Jones, although it was very disappointing that she was recovering from flu and couldn't sing. I have to say, if she had mentioned that on the radio interview I heard the day before (which was the reason I bought tix), we wouldn't have gone. In a way, I do feel it was deceptive. The orchestra was good and they played many of the memorable musical-theatre songs from the past few decades. The two soloists were fair but not great. In the end, though, we went to hear Shirley Jones (even if for only a few songs), and we were very disappointed that she was unable to sing.
