If interpretive is your bag, you will love this!

by Normore on 2/19/18Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I cried, laughed and loved every minute of it. Wish I had closer seats to see their expressions too. I would have purchased the dvd, if there were one, to rewatch it again, and again. My sister doesn't enjoy opera (this is the closest thing I could relate this dancing experience to), so interpretive stuff might just not be her thing. she found this too sad of a story to keep her amused too. However, I loved it and having recently lost a few key people in my life, I related to a lot of the interpretations; especially when he was being pulled by all sides in the ropes and going nowhere. There were so many memorable parts for me in this dance story performance. Like the mirror routine, where his alter ego comes out and they tussle around. Good job to all the dancers who didn't just interpret A song, but performed, and brought us along on this journey, and it's unfolding through many dances. Travis Wall... You are brilliant!

Travis Walls' Shaping Sound is Unbelievable!

by Kinslergirl on 2/12/18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

This was my 2nd time seeing this performance and it didn't disappoint. The story and choreography was amazing. I was excited to see Gaby Diaz return to the tour. We did have a difficult time seeing the side of the stage to our right, from our seats in the orchestra section, which was frustrating. I would highly recommend seeing this show if you have the opportunity.

    Jaw dropping performance

by Tinydancer329 on 2/7/18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

Incredible!!! I have danced and performed for 35 plus years and LOVE when I see something I haven't seen before!! This performance was a story from beginning to end--it wasn't just 1 piece after another piece--it was strung together brilliantly! Travis is amazing--what a talent!

    Gloomy Mess!

by BestNina on 2/6/18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

Although I can appreciate some of the choreography in this stage production, the story line was hard to follow. The entire production was dreary, gloomy, and depressing. I don't go to the theater for that! My granddaughter's comment when it was over was that there were not enough happy dances. I agreed with her 100%.

Shaping Sound After the Curtain was breathtaking!

by Ckrantz86 on 2/6/18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

Travis Wall has created an amazingly deep and poignant performance. This show is thought provoking and will encourage you to evaluate not only if you're living a life true to yourself but also how you're helping others live their truth. There aren't enough stars to give this show its deserved rating.

    Shaping Sound INNOVATIVE DANCE SHOWPIECE,

by Dancerrockin on 2/6/18Detroit Opera House - Detroit

What an amazing creation Travis Wall has brought to us with his latest Shaping Sound creation titled After The Curtain. He is taking contemporary dance into the realm of theatre and ballet. A storied dance creation using just enough innovative and creative special effects for a WOW factor, but never detracting from the focus on dance. Truly it was like watching a silent film. While more distinctive costuming might have helped us distinguish the female characters more easily, it's minor in the face of choreography and acting that is on par with Broadway. Lex Ishimoto is not only an incredible dancer, he's an outstanding actor who gave us Jude whether featured or moving a set piece. The women were stunning in their technique an ability to convey the emotion of their particular conflict. Nick Lazzarini, holy cow and Travis Wall, please keep it coming. You are the Linn Manuel Miranda of Dance. On a side note the Detroit Opera House continued to disrupt our evening by continuing to seat people an hour into the performance. Inexcusable! They need to educate their audience and review their late seating policy. When I have a choice between Chicago and Detroit I will now choose Chicago!
