Villa Montalvo is one of the most beautiful venues in the valley. Couple that with a good play by Shakespeare and you have a interesting evening affair.

Twelfth Night was good, not great

by Gregstew on 9/17/12Montalvo - Saratoga

Conventional presentation; well done. Felt a little like parts were raced through, though the best speeches were well paced. Lovely venue and very friendly staff. Some of the acting was great; others OK.

    12th night was incredible

by prtynplad on 9/10/12Montalvo - Saratoga

i watched this with trepidation at first; my expectations were high. the play went above and beyond. it remains my favorite shakespearean play. my favorite character was sir andrew aguecheek. he opened up the character for me by showing him in a different light as a humorous whiny idiot rather than a serious drunkard who is too old for olivia. thank you shakespeare santa cruz.

    Shakespeare Santa Cruz/ Montalvo Villa

by Anonymous on 9/10/12Montalvo - Saratoga

What a beautiful place Montalvo is! our first visit and we were awed by the sheer beauty of the place -a calm oasis. The play was Twelfth Night [ a favourite] and the cast were superb - not a single "weak link" amongst them which is unusual. Venue is perfect for Shakespeare, the sun shone and the intermission ice-cream was delicious!
