    solid show, bad venue

by playeternity on 1/7/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Always great to see bobby playing with wasserman...personally would have preferred not to have drummer present...leave that for ratdog...bobby has to be one of the most unique guitar players in rock...not flashy but always doing something unique to keep the rhythm & melody interesting...he is showing his age a bit-forgetting words here & there-losing his place during desolation row is understandable but also a few other lyrical miscues. any dead fan knows he has never seemed to get thru truckin' on a consistent basis all these years (no-he did not play that at this show). really love bobby's acoustic playing-with his vocal style & wasserman i feel this is his strongest asset-the drumming can get in the way of this...that being said the scarlet>sugar mags sandwich & nfa encore were rockin'. as to revolution live-what a dump-toilets were overflowed before show even started. place was so packed i did not even bother trying to get a beer-may be showing my age a bit there-just not up to the battle anymore (& a little bitter about the bathroom situation). was planning to go to little feat on 1/18 but probably won't-plaza theatre in orlando much nicer (1/19). generally cool scene outside show.

    Mini Rat Dog

by ColDreedle on 1/5/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Had never seen Scaring the Children before, but would describe it as a mini version of the Rat Dog show with more emphasis on the traditional "Bobby" songs. Revolution is a very unique concert venue. Excellent amenities (ample bars, clean bathrooms, and the wrap around balcony affording a view from above and behind the stage is very cool) but in this sold out show only the VIPs had the luxury of roaming around and not losing a precious spot to view the show. I got only peeking views. Doors opened at 8, show got started around 9:30. It was a single set that opened with a rousing Music Never Stopped then settled into a long span of ballads. Actually a bit slow for my tastes. Two guitars and drums generated plenty of sound, but I definitely missed the keyboard. Midway through an extended Desolation Road, Bob & Rob shifted seamlessly to acoustic, then continued that way into the finest Looks Like Rain this head has ever heard. That was the highlight for me, as the rest of the show was unremarkable--except of course for the fact it's always nice to see anything live and Dead. Overall the main detractor was not being able to actually see the band after my first foray to the bar/bathroom. The adjacent outdoor space would have been a better choice given the fine weather that night.

    Expecting more:-(

by greeneggsnham on 1/5/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

The show was not as good as I was expecting. Having seen them before, I was hoping for a tighter show-they started late and I didn't care for the song selection. They weren't in a groove like I've seen before. All in all, disappointing.

    Bob was solid!

by peem on 1/5/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Always great to see Bob Weir! Great vocals. Start was a bit slow but it picked up midway. With only 3 musicians sound not so full, no reason to hold back until 2nd half guys!

    Bobby in Ft Laud

by JohnnyAinFL on 1/5/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

In terms of the music, the show was 5 star, for sure. Was a bit disappointed in the Revolution Live club however. Was very crowded, perhaps oversold?? leaving NO room to dance. Will give Dead music in FL another chance there.
