About

SCANDALOUS is the new Broadway musical based on the life of Aimee Semple McPherson, the world's first media superstar, whose passion for saving souls equaled her passion for making headlines.  Set in 1920s Los Angeles, holiness collides with Hollywood in the extraordinary tale of one woman's charismatic rise to fame amidst scandalous love affairs and growing controversy, inevitably ending in her much-publicized fall from grace.

    Scandalous

by shawnshawng on 12/12/12Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Carolee Carmello and Roz Ryan were a huge hit. Tthe supporting cast was equally impressive. What an amazing final performance! Top rate professionals. Finally, a show with a legitimate message! Well done, Kathie Lee! It's unfortunate that the Broadway reviewers and "experts" can't recognize talent when they see it. I am lucky to have been able to attend. Loved every moment of it!

Carolee was incredible, what a magnificent voice! I was sorry to see it closed, it was original with a great story to tell. It could have been about 15 minutes shorter.

Fabulous show! Kuddo's to Kathy Lee Gifford - so sorry it closed on Broadway on 12/9/2012. Poor choice from the critics to pan a wonderful heart felt show.

    Scandelous...amazing story, amazing talent

by preach4sq on 12/9/12Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Scandelous was an amazing depiction of the life of Sister Aimee Semple McPherson! The musical talent of all the cast and especially Carolee Carmelo was incredible! The play ending so early seems like such an injustice.

    GO SEE IT!!!

by CJK87 on 12/7/12Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Let me begin by saying that Gifford's talent brought me back to NYC and Broadway after many years. And as predicted, this show was outstanding. What a pleasure to be entertained, deeply moved and enlightened all at the same time. Carmello's portrayal was completely genuine. Her voice phenominal! But it is not a one woman show...the other actors lent their talent to creating a humor filled musical experience that one does not forget even a week later. Even in this economy, I would like to see it again as I recall my favorite numbers, especially A Girl's Got To Do What A Girl's Got To Do, and the emotionally charged How Could You.

    Scanalous was very enjoyable!

by Gustabusta on 12/7/12Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The singing was outstanding. I enjoyed the format with the main character,Amy, giving monologues which explained and moved the plot along. All the supporting actors did a wonderful job in their roles. I though the sets were original in the approach used to set the scenes over time and still keep the sense of a grand cathedral in the style of most evangelical preachers. The final comments about Amy's life were an unexpected surprise - I plan to do some research to learn more about her life. An afternoon well spent - not sure why the critics were not favorable in their reviews.
