Rating: 2 out of 5 Apparently, I missed the intent....
by Animaniac on 5/16/11Fitzgerald Theater - St PaulSarah Vowell is a fabulous writer, full of wit and great tongue-in-cheek sarcasm. But live? Not so smooth. I thought this was going to be more of a 'stand up' or solo deal. The interview format didn't suit me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Great Lead-in to Thanksgiving
by BertLiz on 11/15/10Lisner Auditorium - WashingtonAs we all prepare to meet up with our families for Thanksgiving, it was apropos to enjoy Sarah Vowell regale us with tales of her family travails and her unique take on historic moments in America--both a major part of the Thanksgiving experience. Whether it was the plaques and statues in Washington and New York, Hawaii, her Montana upbringing, or her fascination with Teddy Roosevelt, Sarah is masterful in delivering a personal take on historic settings and American culture.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Sarah Vowell
by Eklekroush on 11/3/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesLoved the event and what better place to host than Hoyt Sherman. I love hearing her perspective on things. Though I don't always agree with all of her views, I enjoy her perspective and her "realness". She is so smart and her quirky personality is so endearing. I always feel a little smarter after listening or reading her material.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Sarah So Short
by pamox on 11/3/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des MoinesSarah came as her usual entertaining and interesting self. She, however, did not stay long enough and seemed in a rush to leave. I am surprised that the NPR series overall is not drawing the crowd I thought it would draw. Scott Simon connected with the audience well even tho' they were spread out and the CC looked a bit empty. Hoyt Sherman was more cozy for the presentation, but Sarah did not really connect tonight.
