About

The Santa Clara baseball team is a college baseball team that represents Santa Clara University. They play in the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference, which they helped found. The team's colors are maroon and white, and their nickname is the Broncos.

The Broncos play their home games at Stephen Schott Stadium, which is located on campus in Santa Clara, California. The stadium has a seating capacity of 1,500 people and opened in 2005. It's named after Stephen Schott, a Santa Clara alumnus and former owner of the Oakland Athletics.

The Santa Clara Broncos baseball team has a long history of success. They began playing in 1883 and have since won 11 conference pennants and appeared in 13 NCAA tournaments. In 1962, the Broncos made it to the finals of the College World Series, but lost to Michigan on a passed ball in the 15th inning. Bob Garibaldi, a member of that team, became the first player to receive a million-dollar signing bonus. In total, 34 Broncos have been named All-Americans, and 158 players have been drafted in the MLB Draft, with 48 players making it to the Major Leagues.

Santa Clara has had many notable players throughout its history, including Frank Arellanes, the first Hispanic professional baseball player, and Randy Winn, who enjoyed a decade-long career in the majors. The team has also been led by several successful coaches, including Sal Taormina and John Oldham.
