About

SANCTUARY IN CONCERT:

After an almost 25-year hiatus, '80s metal favorites Sanctuary are back on the scene, armed with a brand new album and a killer live set that thoroughly rocks concertgoers with its amped-up intensity. In their heyday, Sanctuary was lauded for their bone-crushing tours, which found front man Warrel Dane thrashing around the stage while breaking sound barriers with his hair-raising screams. Longtime fans will be ecstatic to discover Dane's signature pipes are as strong as ever, brilliantly complementing the band's thunderous guitars and pounding rhythms. As if making up for lost time, Sanctuary has treated ticket buyers at their latest shows to high-power performances that prove the older they get, the harder they slay.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Seattle in 1985, Sanctuary quickly rose to fame after its first demo tape landed in the hands of Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine. Impressed with the band's deliciously blood-curdling set of tunes, Mustaine offered to produce their debut album, 1987's Refuge Denied. The now-classic record included hits like "Battle Angels" and earned them an opening slot on Megadeth's tour that year. But Sanctuary's success was cut surprisingly short -- while touring in support of their second album Into The Mirror Black in 1992, guitarist Sean Blosl left the band. The group broke up later that year after resisting pressure from their record label to sound more like Seattle grunge bands, which were on the rise at the time. Singer Warrel Dane, bassist Jim Sheppard, and guitarist Jeff Loomis went on to form progressive metal group Nevermore, which released seven albums over its 18-year career. Just as Sanctuary fans thought they would never get to see the heavy metal rockers back in action, Dane shocked the world in 2010 by confirming a long-awaited reunion. The original lineup -- sans Blosl, who was replaced by Forced Entry guitarist Brad Hull -- performed a string of club dates in 2010-2011 to positive reviews. With the 2014 release of their album The Year The Sun Died, Sanctuary has metal fans amped for a new and much-anticipated chapter in the band's rich history.

Sanctuary was a band I tired to see in the 90's but just never got a chance to. Well, lets say I was so glad to have finally see them. I am a fan of Nevermore and Warrel Dane is one of the best vocalist in the business. He never disappoints with any project he's in. Show was AWESOME!!!

It's been 22 years since "Into the Mirror Black" came out, but Sanctuary still rocks! Despite various technical difficulties, the show was awesome, I had a ton of fun and cannot wait until they put out some new material :D
