    SF Symphony

    by RV on 7/10/23

Wonderful sounding orchestra. Impressive and up-close fireworks. Traffic was absolutely horrendous. Took well over an hour to leave the parking lot. Will not repeat. Those sitting up close to the stage, especially on the left (facing stage) had to move to get a full view of fireworks as the amphitheater tent blocked the view. Would have appreciated more patriotic music.

Incredible made magical with Carpathia Jenkins

    by San Jose on 7/7/23

Incredible experience once logistics of getting through parking : bag check and back out again were undertaken. Lighthearted and tender symphony coupled with firebrand exquisitely produced vocals of the insanely talented Carpathia Jenkins.

Great Event - Terrible Parking Management

    by PJM on 7/7/23

I purchased Premier parking in anticipation of a busy night. Came off 101 for at 6:30 for a 8:00 event start. The bumper to bumper traffic and the attendants who directed us away not onto Premier (after making it clear to several that we had Premier (they didn't know what is was, most didn't speak English). After over 90 minutes we arrived at "the line"to get in. We weren't seated until 9:15 way after the concert had been playing. The symphony stopped at 1000 for the fireworks display. Could have been fun, but way too stressful and very avoidable if management knew what they were doing

    Parking Experience is Horrible

    by Gabriel on 7/7/23

The show was good, and the fireworks were fine. I was expecting much more and at least a big one around the full Amphitheater. But what was terrible was getting out of the parking lot. We stayed there for one hour without moving a centimeter. The event is big, but it is evident in a logistic problem in administrating the traffic on the event day.

4th of July SF Symphony and fireworks

    by Andi on 7/7/23

The symphony as usual put on a great show. But we were disappointed how un organized getting into the venue was. The lines were very long and just before the entrance they splint into areas where people with bags finally were routed to an area where they had to do bag checks. But for people with no bags like myself there should have been clearer instructions on where each should go. I have been to Shoreline where they handled crowds better. We missed part of the show due to chaos in front getting in. Also we were in the 204 area with seats and the fireworks were on that side of the pavillion but there was a large tower directly in that are that blocked views of the fireworks. I would probably sit somewhere else 8n the future

    After-Party

    by Sherry on 7/7/23

We have been going to this event for years, and love it. The San Francisco Symphony always provides a stellar 4th of July concert and fireworks accompaniment. A++ for that! The reason for only 4 stars is that this year, there were no printed programs which was a big disappointment. There was no "lucky number"for prizes at the end of the symphony to encourage people to stick around and avoid the parking fiasco when exiting the lots. Instead, they had an "After Party"with intrusive rock music blasting away, and all bars remaining open so the revelers can drink before heading for their cars. The noise and atmosphere was NOT conducive for seniors or young families. It was ridiculous, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. This is a reflection on Live Nation/Shoreline Amphitheater -- NOT the SF Symphony. Aside from that, it was a wonderful evening, and we'll be back next year, for sure.

    Good show but logistics issues

    by WendyN on 7/7/23

We are longtime Mountain View residents and have been enjoying this show for years. In previous years, we have been able to go in early to enjoy a picnic with food from home on the lawn. This year, it was not clear we could do this, so we ate at home and arrived at the gates to the venue at about 7:30 for the 8:00 pm show. The line was so long, it took 10 minutes to get to the end of it. We were not seated on the lawn until 8:20 pm. It seemed many people did bring food in, then had it inspected. The concert itself was excellent music. Classical, jazz, and patriotic music in the first half; an Aretha Franklin show in the second half. Ending as usual with fireworks accompanied by music from Star Wars, America the Beautiful, and Sousa.

    Oh, say, can you see

    by Barbb on 7/7/23

The Symphony was fantastic, as usual. The singer and her backup singers were also fantastic. What a voice the singer has! There was no program this year. No raffle after the concert. Those are both important--so you can see what the orchestra is playing, and so the foot traffic out of the pavilion and thus vehicle traffic out to the freeways gets spread out. If it was to save paper, what if you used the seat numbers for the non-lawn area, and just gave tickets to the lawn area? There's gotta be a way to save paper and still have the raffle. Thank you!

    We will not be returning

    by Rachael on 7/7/23

We have attended this event for the last 15 years (minus closures during COVID), our visit to the 4th of July at Shoreline this year was very disappointing. We will not be attending this venue anymore in the future. - The food prices were even higher that previous years ($5 for a can of Pepsi?) - Premier parking was at least $20 higher than previous years ($65 this year) - The bag policy historically has not been in effect for this specific family event in previous years. This year, attendees were turned away at the gate due to bags that were too large or food not being in clear containers. This enforcement of this rule for this family event was not advertised or called out on the venue website or the tickets. This created a very stressful situation. - The concession employees were not empowered to help us with a request to use a small paper tray/boat for our large purchase to help us carry everything. We were told they were only allowed to be dispensed for hot dogs. Small detail, but lead to a very negative customer experience. - When we entered the gates at 5:00pm, we had to wait on the edge of the lawn area for 20 minutes before were were allowed to enter and sit on the grass. There was zero communication as to why this was happening or when it would be resolved. Families with children were in a very difficult spot. - The grass area was badly maintained, many families had to sit on dirt patches instead of grass. Overall, the higher prices and lack of communication and employee empowerment was not ideal. The performance was wonderful, but we will travel to SF to see the symphony in the future and not return to Shoreline.

    Chaotic and late entry

    by Pree on 7/7/23

The show started at 8 pm and we had gotten there at 7:15 only to see that the entrance line was extremely long, about 2-3 km! It moved so slow and we got in at 8:30 only for the symphony to have gone on break. Essentially we were able to catch the last hour when we paid for a full concert. We called to request a partial refund and they said no and wouldn't compensate us at all
