An amazing evening of amazing music performed by all star musicians. These young adults out performed their years. Very well prepared. Musical selections were interesting and truly show cased the talent of these students.
Concert was wonderful, especially the chorus! The sound from the chorus was completely inspirational! Loved them! It was a little strange that the orchestra was not centered on the floor. Had difficulty getting out of the Premiere Center. Crowd was at a stand-still for quite a while. Wouldn't have been safe if there was an emergency.
The Sanford Premier Center is not a comfortable venue. When purchasing tickets, the map gave no indication that the wall for hockey would be up, leaving absolutely no leg room for front row seats! The staff was less than helpful at the venue. The exit was made excruciatingly longer than it had to be due to the hockey wall and everyone having to be funneled through the same level and down the same stairs. Rarely does it happen, but Rapid City ran a much better event last year!
The South Dakota All State,Choir and Orchestra was a beautifully moving experience.
The All state chorus and orchestra was, truly, an all-star performance. I enjoyed it very much!! The escalators and traffic management leaving the auditorium was terrifying!!
Amazing concert. Great song selection although the 24 minute orchestra song was long (but hey... that's just me). The facility was awesome although the lighting was blinding when watching the choir. Hard to see.
Major dilemma this time: no arc for the choir, no acoustical consideration for singers, conductors & audience. Absolutely unmusical decision with this layout at the Premier Center this year! Any knowledgeable higher-ups in fine arts ought to have known better! Very disappointing for choir members to not hear themselves or each other as one long, flat panel rather than with standard semi-circled positioning. This issue MUST be addressed for future performances of this type! All-State is not a band that can simply be turned up with technology and more amps! VERY DISAPPOINTED in this aspect of this year's concert. PLEASE ADDRESS AND FIX IT!
The All State Choir and Orchestra concert was phenomenal! The directors seemed to have the 1000+ talented youth in the palm of their hands! The concert was very well attended and the audience was thrilled. The only downside was the 35 min wait to pick up the tickets I had purchased MONTHS before the concert! Not all of the ticket windows were open, the tickets were not pre-printed, and they did not have the lines divided so those of us that had purchased reserved seats had to wait behind those trying to decide which seats to choose. We arrived 30 minutes before the concert and missed the first concert number because of waiting in a line we did not anticipate!!! Hopefully this problem will be solved!!
What a great evening watching a plethora of talented young adults perform! It is great to see students excel and be involved in the arts. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for many of these young adults. The worst part of the evening was the venue. Parking was atrocious and the will call area to pick up tickets was understaffed and very unorganized. If going to this event in this venue - make sure to arrive at least one hour early!
