SBTRKT IN CONCERT:
Ever since the drop of his self-titled 2011 debut album, London-based producer SBTRKT has been synonymous with next-level, genre-devouring electronic music. His wide-ranging compositions encompass everything from R&B, and dubstep to bass music and house, making for an eclectic concert experience that treats fans to the farthest reaches of sonic possibility. Taking the stage in their signature tribal masks, SBTRKT and longtime vocal collaborator Sampha round out their sound with real drums and synthesizers, ensuring epic tracks like "War Drums" and "Wildfire" are even more massive live. In 2014 SBTRKT released his hotly anticipated sophomore album Wonder Where We Land to critical acclaim, generating significant buzz among ticket buyers for his upcoming tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
London-based SBTRKT, aka Aaron Jerome, got his start as a DJ in the city's underground club scene before making a name for himself as a talented remix artist. In 2009 he made his debut with the Musik Lace EP, an impressive first effort that established him as a potent new force in electronic music and hinted at big things to come. Breakthrough success followed in 2011 with his self-titled debut LP, a critical smash that was named one of the best albums of the year by both Pitchfork and NME. He followed the release with extensive touring and a steady stream of popular remixes, as well as the stellar single "Wildfire", a collaboration with Drake and Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon. In 2014 he released a trio of EPs -- Transitions I, II, and III -- before dropping his sophomore album Wonder Where We Land. The record featured an impressive roster of guest stars including Jessie Ware, A$AP Ferg, and Ezra Koenig, earning rave reviews from critics and building excitement among fans for his upcoming shows.

by Hippiechick25 on 6/14/15Masquerade - AtlantaSo I went to the SBTRKT concert in Atlanta and I feel like it was not worthwhile. SBTRKT performance was only an hour long. I was really disappointed about that because I would rather just stay home ave listen to his music if it's for that long. Another thing was the timing of everything. My boyfriend and I arrived a hour late and when we finally made it, we were able to hear the last two sons of the opening act.I actually liked their performance better. Believe me, I wasn't upset about missing their performance. I was upset about the hour long intermission till SBTRKT performed. I think that was very rude and I feel like they were just trying to kill time so that the whole show would "last" to 12. My boyfriend and I actually stepped outside from the concert just to get some air, and then that's when we noticed that people were leaving because the show was over. I was kind of mad because I wanted to hear more of course. So overall, I just feel like it wasn't worth it.

They were great and life-changing. Also, the venue, the Masquerade, was awesome. Very chill and has a nice vintage appearance that enhances the type of music played there. Over 5 STARS!

by Spexxy on 11/4/14The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoSbtrkt lacked personability as he hardly addressed the crowd. He wasn't even facing the audience, but rather facing the side has he DJed, which I guess is fair enough considering all the equipment he had to control. The biggest thing missing were the vocalists. I was hoping that Jessie Ware or Sampha would show up, as they're a big part of Sbtrkt's music. Or even if Goldlink, who had rapped an awesome set to open for Sbtrkt, filled in for some of those songs, imperfect as it would have been, it still would have been something to watch. Instead it felt like we were watching someone quietly do sound control while the singers were notably absent. Great mix of songs from all Sbtrkt's previous albums, though, and the lights and sound production were solid, for what that's worth.

I just don't understand how this artist can tour without his singer Sampha who is featured on 75% of his songs. It felt like listening to a giant iPod. Not to mention the length of the show for the money I spent.
