42 years has passed since the release of his debut album Cold Fact, and finally Rodriguez is getting the recognition and success he deserves.
Following multiple sell out shows on his last tour to Australia in 2010, Rodriguez returns to Hamer Hall for one show only.
Onstage with Rodriguez will be surf rock band The Break, who comprise of the three founding members of Midnight Oil: Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie as well as Brian Ritchie, of US band Violent Femmes, and Jack Howard from Hunters and Collectors. The Break will also perform an exclusive support set.
Sixto Rodriguez has been launched into the global spotlight since the release of the award-winning documentary on the “Mystery Man.” ‘Search for Sugarman’ – the story of two South African fans and their search over three decades to discover their hero - claimed two awards at the Sundance Film festival, Best Documentary at the Moscow Film Festival and the Audience Awards at Melbourne, Los Angeles and Durban Festivals.
It’s a fairy-tale story of an amazing musician, extraordinary wordsmith & talented performer, his two albums, ‘Cold Fact’ & ‘Coming From Reality’ and the wonderful songs like ‘I Wonder’, 'Crucify Your Mind’ and the enduring anthemic ‘Sugar Man’.
Don’t miss Rodriguez and The Break at Hamer Hall!
