About

ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT IN CONCERT:

SoCal punk favorites Rocket From the Crypt are back in top form, having reunited in 2013 for a European tour that reminded ticket buyers just why their live show remains legendary among fans of energetic, pop-infused punk. With their deftly-employed horn section and anthemic sing-along choruses, the band remain a consummate live act, handing out noisemakers and inciting friendly mosh pits at their electrifying sets. From "On A Rope" to "Hippy Dippy Do," all the fan-favorites will be present on Rocket From the Crypt's upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in San Diego in 1990, Rocket From the Crypt took its name from '70s underground punk band Rocket From the Tombs. Their 1991 debut album Paint as a Fragrance demonstrated considerable potential, but it was their rollicking live shows that really started to attract them a cult following. By the time of their 1992 sophomore album Circa: Now! the band had a legion of dedicated fans, resulting in extensive touring in support of the release. Notoriously, frontman John Reis announced at one point in a fanzine that anyone who got a tattoo of the band's logo would receive free admission for life to their live shows, resulting in a rash of Rocket From the Crypt tattoos around the world. The band released five more albums in the '90s and '00s before breaking up in 2005, only to reunite in 2011 for an appearance on children's TV show Yo Gabba Gabba! that has paved the way for their continued touring.

    RFTC's Apocalypse Now!

by Sniff on 11/1/22The Observatory North Park - San Diego

Amazing...what more can you say? RFTC never fails to bring it on Halloween. It was a lot of awesomeness tucked into a short (75-minute) set. Can't wait for next year.

    The venue is a bummer

by Chris on 11/1/21The Observatory North Park - San Diego

Alcohol prices are so high and the Venue has the earliest hard out I’ve ever heard of. Will really have to be persuaded to consider going back. Rocket is the greatest though!!!!

    Another Great RFTC Show

by mcarpo on 10/28/19House of Blues San Diego presented by Cricket Wireless - San Diego

Given their still-unexplained, day-of cancellation of a Halloween show a few years back, I was reluctant to try my luck again. Thankfully I decided to buy a ticket, as the band put on yet another really fun show. I've seen Rocket at least 20 times, and I'd say they dug a little deeper this time and played a wider song selection than usual, including a couple I don't know that I've ever heard live. The special Halloween intro video went on a bit long, and the mediocre acoustics inside the House of Blues made the narration hard to hear at times, but it was actually very funny and entertaining, and helped explain the band's costumes. There were also a couple of times when the band wasn't as tight as usual, and Speedo doesn't seem to have fun with the crowd as much as he used to, but in all this was still a really fun gig. Rocket doesn't play much anymore, but when they do it's always worth the wait.

    Dreamy Cool Halloween...

by Tara on 10/28/19House of Blues San Diego presented by Cricket Wireless - San Diego

Death Valley Girls gave a surisingly very enjoyable / professional performance not the typical girl garage band(lets not forget the one handsome male rhythm guitarist too!)...punk, grunge and old fashion rock & roll... A smart choice to start this show with! El Vez & his tribute band were loaded with great punk rock music(what no guitars!?!) What a screamer!!!...& theatrical stage performaces...loved his onstage wicked strip down vinyl jumpsuit wardrobe changes... Lol...saved best for last... Rocket from the Crypt...hypnotized the audience wth their Heavens Gate theme...great histirical vintage & modern visuals on screen while they powerfully performed their amazing sexy hipstered punk /rock & roll music ....amazingly slick old surfer to 60's Kink guitar riffs & memorable vocals lyrics, unstoppable drummer driving the energy ....fun hard driving music... Nice but too short encore too ...HOB venue & staff help made a safe /perfect Halloween party !!!

The high water mark of music

by P. on 10/28/19House of Blues San Diego presented by Cricket Wireless - San Diego

Rocket From The Crypt stands as the pinnacle of musical achievement. Humanity has never come close to the power of Speedo, ND, JC2000, Apollo 9, Ruby Mars, and Petty X. My the Rocket From The Be With You.
