    Unforgettable experience

by Ablen on 7/22/17MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

The event was amazing. I had the time of my life. The only complaints I have were the parking and lack of order in exiting the parking lots. I think they need to have a better plan to ease the flow. It's absolute chaos every night.

It was an emotional, raining. rockn, delays by mother nature, and simply put Metallica kind of a weekend. Me and all my fellow rangers got thru it. Can't wait until next year to do it again. Met some great people their again.

Rock on the range, year 11

by jprjon on 6/6/17MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

I am an 11 year veteran to Rock on the Range. The music is almost always great and the atmosphere is great. It is awesome to be around ROCK music and fans. This is clearly the biggest rock festival in the country. The only reason I went this year though was to see Metallica. I was not that impressed with the lineup otherwise. For the money being spent, I would expect more known acts. This year was plagued by weather and while I understand why Mapfre stadium did what they did, I think it could have been handled better. Now lets talk pricing. It has gone up from previous years. It is getting to be more and more expensive, from parking, to drinking beer and even water. $10 for a beer, and its shitty Budweiser products, or $5 for a bottle of water is outrageous. If there were more selection, it might be worth it. The guys walking around selling drinks were also extremely pushy in wanting tips, big turnoff when spending $10 on a beer. I am questioning if I go back or not. The expense is getting to be to much.

    ROTR 2017

by Lavonda on 6/4/17MAPFRE Stadium - Columbus

This was a wonderful and heart breaking year. The death of a magical person, Chris Cornell, was present. The crowd felt the loss, and each band paid tribute to the singer/songwriter. The lead singer of Audioslave, Soundgarden and The Temple of the Dog .....has made an impression on many types of music, especially rock. He will be missed...... My brother, Steven Greene, has wanted to see Meticalla, for a long time. This was his year, 2017, ROTR. We attended this year, like many in the past, ready to absorb the music. We did.....and it was awesome! I can't wait till next year......we are forever Rangers!!!!!!

Great lineup, and good job working the schedule around the weather. The sound was terrible for the main stage and Zippo stage though. Nowhere near loud enough. We didn't even need ear plugs. I want it so loud that I can really feel it, need to wear earplugs, and not hear people behind me singing!! The main stage seemed like peak amp power was rotating between the various speaker arrays, perhaps to play games with local db level ordinances. Or the PA equipment was just terrible. It often resulted in sort of a swooshing / phase-shifting effect, huge bummer. Work on the sound systems for next year, or get local laws changed, haha! Also, Verizon cell coverage was totally useless, saturated, and broken, whereas my friends with AT&T and Sprint had no problems. Significant safety issue there. I'm complaining to Verizon as well, but maybe the organizers could be more proactive with them as well. I saw a few supplemental portable cell towers, and could see 5 permanent cell towers from our seats in the upper section of the main stadium (stage left).

While I loved all of the bands and the venue itself, I had a problem with the different colored wrist bands. We chose the blue band for the seats. The problem I had, was when the field people got tired of standing they took all of the seats and forced the blue band holders to stand around and continually get shuffled out of the stands for overflow. In the future maybe have blue and green as one and it would then be first come first serve with seating or with the field.
