About

ROCCO DELUCA IN CONCERT:

Rocco DeLuca offers a contemporary take on traditional genres like spiritual music and delta blues. On songs like “Swing Low” and “Born to Be Free” his howling vocals recall legendary blues greats like Robert Johnson and Jimmy Reed. DeLuca's ethereal voice is balanced by the earthy tone of his trademark slide guitar playing, and the resulting sound is a thunderous, moving ode to American musical traditions. DeLuca is a natural performer, and he plays and sings with an effortless style and precision that strikes ticket buyers at their very core. Known as something of a troubadour, he often performers at intimate venues while on tour, which gives fans an even more personal experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Southern California in 1975, Rocco DeLuca grew up traveling on the R&B circuit while his father played rhythm guitar for Bo Diddley. He picked up the instrument at an early age, learning the blues from some of its most well-known purveyors. Early in his career DeLuca had the privilege of opening for such legendary artists as Taj Mahal, John Mayer, John Lee Hooker, and Johnny Cash. His breakout came in 2006 when he released his debut album I Trust You to Kill Me, which he recorded with his backing band The Burden. Though the band broke up in 2009, DeLuca kept busy supporting musicians such as Slash and Robbie Robertson in the studio and on tour, as well as collaborating on several projects with Daniel Lanois. After years as a successful session player, DeLuca thrilled fans in 2014 with his self-titled solo debut, a stellar collection of stripped-down blues that’s made him an international success.

20 of us got an amazing night of music.

by Hirekeenan on 3/21/15Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Rocco DeLuca is astoundingly talented. He sings like Jeff Buckley and plays lap steel like Daniel Lanois. The crowd was very small but closed in around him and made the BMH seem intimate. Most artists looking out at 20 people would phone it in and cut the gig short. Rocco killed it. He seems to play for all the right reasons and deserves massive respect and success. He also hung around afterwards and spoke with everyone before an overnight drive to Canada. Although he sounded amazing, the right band that understood his dynamics would be brilliant. Don't miss him next time through.

    An almost spiritual experience!

by veeverzs on 9/5/14Rough Trade NYC - Brooklyn

It was our first tie at the venue, we loved that it was inside a record store. We had been waiting for 7 years to see Rocco live, and he is truly incredible. He performs with his soul, and his heart. Wonderful experience!
