    Gets better with age

    by n. s. on 5/22/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

Robin was in top form playing songs from his new album and all of his brilliant Bridge Of Sighs. The other two members of his band were also on top form and it all made for an excellent concert in a lovely old theatre. Crowd were very appreciative and after many years of wanting to see him in concert I was not disappointed

The show was fantastic, the venue was lacking

    by k. on 5/21/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

Fantastic show - Trower and his three piece band were in great form. The Moore isn't the best venue as the seats (in the balcony) are tiny and cramped. Also, the sound was mediocre at best.

    Disappointed, sadly

by Ymir20Mil (John Elliott) on 5/21/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

I know it was a small venue. It started at 8pm. I wasn't paying several hundred for the show, I realize; I paid $125 for two seats pretty much dead center of Row S on the main floor. There was an excellent opening act (Portland's Terry Robb), who played a 30-minute set. Then there was a half-hour wait before Robin Trower came out for his set. When he did, the music was note-perfect, improvisations included. Beautiful. There was no visual show, just marvelous playing. So, I closed my eyes and absorbed...including the 2-number encore. But—only ONE HOUR? Some people flew in from the East Coast to see the show; we drove 4 hours north from Albany, Oregon, to see the Seattle show. We were staying 15 minutes from the venue—yet we were home by 10:30 having arranged a Lyft as we were exiting the concert. Disappointed by the length, though delighted by Robin Trower's music. Torn.

    It was a great show.

    by R. R. on 5/20/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

It was an excellent performance, with Mr. Trower playing many of my favorite songs from the 70s. The only downside was that he stretched out some songs too long. I kept saying to myself, "When is this song going to end?" It was great to see him again.

    Uninspired

by Scotty Rock on 5/20/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

Robin Trower is an undisputed legend in the world of Rock music. He has a sound and style that is uniquely his own and it can cut right through to your soul. I love his playing. I've played guitar since age 9 and he is one of my heroes. I purchased 2 tickets back in November of 2018 as soon as I heard he was coming to Seattle on May 17, 2019. I was eagerly anticipating this show. He's 74 now and the music on his latest albums has slowed somewhat, featuring mostly slower blues variations, so I was not expecting a rousing experience. But I was sure that it would be rich and soulful. Unfortunately, that is not what he delivered. His playing was impeccable and there were moments of penetration into that indescribable realm of musical ecstasy, but they were seldom and fleeting. Mostly, he just did what he does night after night, seemingly by rote. Very little connection with the audience or even the 2 other musicians. And speaking of the other musicians, WHY did he choose 2 KIDS to play with. They both looked like they were barely out of high school, and their performance seriously lacked any depth or emotion. I was definitely expecting, and we ALL deserved to hear him play with seasoned pros, not kids. It reminded me of the way Chuck Berry used to do shows - arriving in a town with his guitar and playing with whoever the local talent was. Overall, this show was probably satisfying for casual fans, but lacking for those of us who have been listening to him throughout his career. It was frankly impersonal and uninspired. I was disappointed.

Robin Trower still has his Chops

by Dark Star on 5/20/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

The previous time I saw Robin Trower was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in 1974 which was the Bridge of Sighs Tour. This time he did all the songs I wanted to hear such as Too Rolling Stoned, Bridge of Sighs, the Fool & Me, Daydream, From Earth Below. The bass player sounded somewhat like James Dewar. His guitar playin is as good as it was in 1974. Very good concert.

    Seattle Trower

by Grandad on 5/20/19Moore Theatre - Seattle

The show started with an acoustic performer out of Portland named Terry Robb. He is an amazing finger picking style player. Terry played a 6 string. He sounded like Leo Kotke playing a 12 string ... I'm not kidding. Every finger and thumb on both hands elicited notes from his guitar. See this man! As per usual Trower style, well, he has a certain sound that is all his. He was in a great mood witnessed by his big smiles and movement on stage. His 2 man rhythm section was outstanding. The set list was perfect to me. The little Moore Theatre is one of the very best venues in Seattle. And after they changed their line array speakers, the sound is great. Not too bloated or muddy. And of course the Seattle crowd. I love Seattle's music fans. They know how to shower the love. I feel lucky to live here. Got home and pissed off my neighbors (Klipsch) with a midnight playing of Bridge Of Sighs. Nice.
