The Martillo/Sierra main event reminds us what boxing was in the glory days. The men went toe to toe. From devasting body shots to haymakers, both fighters were bloodied and beaten but neither would succumb to the other and the 12 rounds of greatness reminds us what makes boxing so great a sport.
This was my first time watching a boxing match live in person. It was great, they both gave it their all. You can see they were both hungry and wanted that title. It was awesome. Congratulations to Jesus "El Martillo' Gonzales, he won by unanimous decision. I'll tell you, it was a close fight but he was the winner and deserves the belt and title. Good job to Sierra, he made El Martillo work for that belt. Hope to see more fights with as much heart! Great job to both of you.
Great fight ! Loved it, I would like to see more fight like this.
any boxing fan would've loved this night : 8 knockdowns in 6 or 7 fights w/ a couple KO's and I'm in row 4!
The fights were exciting, the view was great. I loved everything about it except the $11 beers. Two thumbs up!
If you like boxing, you have to see a LIVE event. The power, the quickness, the sounds, amazing. I saw the Gonzalez/Sierra Fight. Both guys went to the Canvas...Both guys were bloodied but both survived the 12 grueling rounds.
Fight card was poorly developed. 'Co-Main Event', an Eight-Rounder!?! Not enough fights on the card. Floor seating was difficult to understand, leading to customer confusion. Floor bar had a Pricelist, but routinely charged / tried to charge in excess of what the list showed; bar closed too early.
Every seat in the lower bowl of US Airways arena is great. The layout was terrific for boxing. They did a pretty good job of making it feel like the action was moving even though there was some dead time because of the TV taping. The ring made the arena feel old-timey in a good way. The crowd was terrific. Very knowledgable about boxing. Phoenix fight fans are very enthusiastic about all the local fighters, and respectful and appreciative of the efforts of fighters from out-of-town too. More boxing in Phoenix and US Airways please!
It was an amazing night. They put together great fights, specially the main fight Gonzalez vs Sierra. Very professional fighters and the overall experience was over the top. I would love to have the opportunity to attend to more boxing matches with our local talent. My only complaint is the girls holding the numbers, they needed to be more fit because it is a sporting event.
