About

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® returns this summer to the most notable boardwalk on the eastern seaboard with a mystical all-new edition, The Coney Island IlluscinationSM.  Ringling Bros.® weaves intrigue and fun as Children of All Ages follow Illuscinator David DaVinci through outlandish, heart racing transformations including suspending himself perilously directly above a pack of lions in an attempt to escape from the confines of a straight jacket.  DaVinci introduces more unfathomable acts than ever before.  Two female aerialists defy the sheer force of gravity, soaring 35 feet above the audience, suspended solely by the strands of their hair. The Kung Fu Kings present the inexplicable which includes challenging centrifugal force by diving blindfolded through a spinning ring of fire intertwined with 40 swords! Even our majestic Asian elephants return with a spellbinding presentation that will leave audiences entranced. See this and much more at The Coney Island Illuscination.

    Illuscination was OK

    by 320underwood on 9/14/10Coney Island - Brooklyn

I thought the show was mediocre. It didn't have that wow factor I expected from the circus & there was only one act that I found impressive. The seats were small & the leg room was nonexistent . Overall, I couldn't wait to leave.

    horrible circus

    by dissapointed1dad on 9/9/10Coney Island - Brooklyn

bad ,horrible, pathetic, way over priced, weak acting and even worse magic acts. my 3 year old was telling me how they were doing magig(look hes hiding in the bpottom and shes standing on top of him) 8 bucks for a lemonaid, 10 bucks for cotton candy, 7 bucks for popcorn. this circus was a joke, never seen such a bad performance in my life.

The show Coney Island Illuscination was vibrant and full of energy. There was a definite family atmosphere. There were funny clowns, exciting wire acts, and thrilling animal acts. I would say there was something for everyone.

    Thumbs up for Ringling Brothers!

by MrzSmart on 9/8/10Coney Island - Brooklyn

It's been years since I've been to see the show and the performance definitely brought back some wonderful memories. This show is a pleasure for adults and a big hit amongst the youths. The acrobats encountered a few mistakes and the elephant pooped during the performance but the performers were excellent at keeping the show going. The best part is that the tickets are very affordable. I definitely recommend Ringling Bros Barnum and Bailey as a must see!

    not up to expectations

by bloswignivsh on 9/8/10Coney Island - Brooklyn

I was very unimpressed. I brought my daughter to the circus at Coney Island and Madison Square last year and both shows were fantastic. But this year's show at Coney Island was more like a high school play. The Elephants and Lion acts, the Horse act was true to form Ringling as was the Chinese acrobats but the rest of acts seemed very small town and diluted the overall experience. There was a cat act. A cat act!!!??? I felt I was at my aunt Bertha's living room when we all have to smile and look amused as not to offend poor Aunt Bertha. The clowns were so so, again not up to the standards we expect from Ringling.

    The Circus is in-tents!

by Lboydio on 9/8/10Coney Island - Brooklyn

There's a lot more to the circus than I remember from my childhood. Maybe they're trying to hold the attention of media-entrenched youth, but it was a sensory overload for our family. Our son, almost 3, was completely overwhelmed by the constant music, flashing lights, and boisterous announcers. It was like a high school talent show on caffeine and speed. After he emerged from his light-and-sound induced coma from the first half, our son let us know that he was ready to go back to our apartment. It would have been nice to see more animals and actual talent rather than lewd dancing and C-grade slapstick, which seemed to be a cover-up for the lack of substantial content. 2 stars is for the performing cats, without which the show would have been a total flop. Anyone who can get a cat to do anything gets my automatic respect.

Took my 3 year old to see show and had VIP seating. I haven't been to the circus since I was little. Was good fun. I would go again. Try and get seats in the very first row if you have smaller kids. My daughter had to stand on my lap most of the show to see over the head of the one row ahead of us.
