About

Richard Villa on Tour

As one of America's premier Latino comics, Richard Villa makes a career out of busting down cultural boundaries. With a stand-up act that's informed as much by growing up on the streets of Compton as it is by the influence of his Mexican parents, Villa has created comedy that speaks to everybody regardless of their background. Villa's approach is brash and cross-cultural — his down-to-earth style deals with both sides of the Mexican-American divide, and he can perform either in Spanish or English, depending on the audience. But no matter the language, by the time the last of many laughs is delivered, the audience understands the divide is just as often a place for coming together. And whether he's touring with Mexican comedy phenomena like Franco Escamilla and Luis de Alba, or appearing on his own, Villa takes the stage with a casual command that easily opens the doors to laughter.

Richard Villa Background

Mexican-American comedian Richard Villa grew up in Compton, in southern Los Angeles county, where he learned to take everyday cultural conflicts and turn them into funny stories that speak to both Anglo and Latino audiences. You might recognize him from TV appearances in HBO Latino's ‘Habla' series and the Comedy Central smash ‘Mind of Mencia,' or recognize his voice from the 2006 animated show ‘The Adventures of Chico and Guapo' on MTV. He also pops up on Netflix and Televisa, and has shared stages with a jaw-dropping list of stand-up stars over the years, including Gabriel Iglesias, Carlos Mencia, and Mike Epps. Gaining renown in both Mexico and the United States, he broadened his audience by joining Mexican stand-up giant Franco Escamilla on the latter's Por La Anecdota and R.P.M. tours, but ultimately, Villa is a larger-than-life comedic presence who stands out on his own.

Pretty skillful but a bit low taste

Richard is pretty skillful in making interesting sounds. His content is rather low taste and cheap laughs. Not much to rethink and share with others.

Richard Villa was excellent however the others were just so so. Because Richard was so good I would recommend this event to others but I would warn that the supporting acts may not be as good. Jacob's act was out of place in the scheme of the show. Didn't care for it. The Host appeared at times to be better than some of the other acts. Excessive use of profanity was not necessary either.
