About

RELIENT K IN CONCERT:

More than a decade after their powerful pop punk anthems launched them to stardom, Relient K continues to be a reliably awesome live act. Longtime fans will be ecstatic to hear a setlist packed with throwback favorites like "High Of 75" and "Be My Escape" along with tracks from the band's later releases, including 2013's Collapsible Lung. Frontman Matt Thiessen is especially entertaining onstage, captivating concertgoers with his personable and funny banter. With their fast-paced pop jams and emotionally charged sets, these Christian rockers always deliver a high-octane concert experience that leaves ticket buyers begging for more.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Vocalist Matt Thiessen, guitarist Matt Hoopes, and bassist Brian Pittman formed Relient K in 1998 in Canton, Ohio. The group incorporated spiritual themes into their pop punk tunes, quickly becoming a staple of the Christian rock scene. Christian label Gotee Records signed the band and released their self-titled debut album in 2000. They quickly amassed a huge following thanks to a heavy touring schedule and a catalog of upbeat tunes brimming with clever pop culture references. Their third album, 2003's Two Lefts Don't Make A Right...But Three Do, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Gospel Album. In 2004 the group achieved mainstream stardom with the release of their fourth album Mmhmm, which spawned the Top 40 hits "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been". The record debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart after receiving heavy radio airplay and exposure on MTV. Their next album,  2007's Five Score And Seven Years Ago, became their biggest hit to date, debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. In 2014 Relient K announced a nationwide tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mmhmm, generating considerable excitement among fans before hitting the road with an updated lineup consisting of Thiessen, Hoopes, guitarist Jon Schneck, drummer Dave Douglas, and bassist John Warne, who replaced Pittman after his departure in 2004.

    Review on the bad reviews

    by Treacy K on 11/7/23

Relient K is amazing. They always put on a good show. All the bad reviews are upset that their opener bands cursed or had bad words in their songs. “Relient K is a Christian band and is supposed to be better”. Relient K is Relient K. They’re not whatever title you want to give them. They’re not who they used to be and they’re not who they will become. You either like their music or you don’t. Stop putting them in a box. If you only like them because they’re “Christian” then news flash, you suck. If you call yourself a Christian but you only align yourself and associate with other “Christians” then you definitely aren’t Christlike. People change and grow. There’s a reason Jesus didn’t associate with the religious leaders when he walked the earth. You exemplify why he didn’t.

    Great concert

    by A. B. on 9/13/22

Relient K was amazing I would definitely go see them again and Semler is now one of my favorite artists after being exposed to them at this concert they really address how the church sometimes isn't great and that's very helpful and cathartic for me as someone who hasn't had a great experience with the church

    Unforgettable, Emotional Moment

by Anastasia on 4/3/22Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - Boston

Great band that’s made up of great people. The love for their community and others in general is so very clear. They brought one of the set crew up on stage to play with them. Their kindness is just so immense. Love these guys!

    Amazing show! Bad reviewers.

    by H.S on 4/3/22

Relient K put on an amazing show full of energy and some of the best songs from most of their albums. The love between the members was obvious, and you could tell they were happy to be playing together again. The opener Semler was great, and never having previously heard of her, she had some great songs with great messages. I see a lot of bad reviews solely because people disagreed with her music, which is incredibly ironic considering she talks about the hypocrisy and unwarranted judgement from the church, and her personal relationship with God. Seems like a lot of people either 1. Didn't like the fact she was openly lesbian, or 2. Were the exact people she was talking about in her music and felt attacked. It's great to see the boys being inclusive and ACTUALLY showing the love of christ through their actions. Most of these reviews could stand to actually listen to the lyrics and see that they're the "church" that turns people away because they're different.

    Really Good, But

    by Lane Davenport on 4/2/22

Relient K put on a great concert, (as I expected them to), but the opener was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. She left the majority of the crowd around us feeling very uncomfortable and unsure about the concert. Good concert, but would’ve picked a better opener.

    Incredible

    by S. A. on 3/31/22Bogart's - Cincinnati

I went with my roommate who has been a big fan of Relient K her whole life and I was honestly so surprised at how incredible their performance was. For someone who hasn't listened to much of their music, I am a fan now.

    Relient K is AMAZING!!

by RelientKFan on 3/31/22Bogart's - Cincinnati

I really enjoyed my experience! It was my first time seeing Relient K in concert and they were AMAZING! The band is fantastic at what they do and are so fun! I took a star off because of the opening act. Relient K has never cursed in any of their songs and their music is rock, but remains clean and relatable. Semmler, the opening act, dropped the F-bomb and swore in multiple songs. Her lyrics were inappropriate in content. Her music was polarizing. It made me really sad Relient K approved and started off their concert this way. I would have enjoyed it much more and given 5/5 stars if they had chosen a better band to open.

    Amazing!!!!!

by MJ on 3/31/22Bogart's - Cincinnati

Relient k was absolutely amazing in concert. They sounded great live and the songs they picked were so nostalgic! The venue was a fun atmosphere and there were way more people there than I expected, which was fun. I left the concert wanting to drive to Nashville to see them again this weekend!
