    Mixed but great

by WillMH on 3/13/16Heymann Performing Arts Center - Lafayette

The opening act was *awesome*. Great showmanship. Regina's performances were captivating--just watching her set that violin aflame with her bow was a treat. The only criticism my partner and I had were the number and length of the solos of her other band members. Each of those individuals were awesome in their own right but their solos were, in my opinion, excessively lengthy and numerous and made the show drag on.

The performance was not what I expected. Not my kind of music.

    Regina Carter is musical genious

by Anonymous on 4/1/15Birchmere - Alexandria

It was amazing how Regina translated and transformed southern folk music into contemporary jazz while maintaining remnants of the origin of the inspiration. The prelude to the songs in which she played the original song was key to understanding the root and base of the song. Very well done.

The show was awesome. Nice and mellow. Too bad more folk were not in attendance. Her entire band showcased their talents. I was able to get a picture with her after the show.Four thumbs up and 3 snaps., lol

by MajikMusikMan on 10/26/11Florida Theatre Jacksonville - Jacksonville

Really great show both for me and my student! This was he first time I had seen a non-classical violin player, which is an amazing feat seeing that I have been playing viola for 21 years!(bachelors and masters degrees) so better late than never and what a great show to have for my first one! It was great!

    Incredible!!!!

by DJPIP on 4/26/11Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

I am a Regina Carter fan but I was not quite sure what to expect from Reverse Threads with all the African song titles and hearing she was going to use an Accordian player. Yeah that's right an Accordian and get this a West African Harp called a Kora. Ms Carter came out an explained the songs and instruments. Also accompanying her was a acoustic bass and a drummer. All of them together were incredible. The Accordian blended with Ms Carter's violin like you would not believe and the Kora harp has an incredible sound. It was unreal what they did on stage, my wife and I were truly amazed. It was sooooo good! You could feel this music, Regina played from deep within and was truly the center of the band although she stepped aside many times for each musican to showcase their talents. If this show comes to your town make sure you go. If they don't then be sure to buy the CD Reverse Threads. The show was outstanding, her percussionist Alvester Garnett is an incredible drummer and percussionist. The Accordian player Will Holhusser was outstanding, all of them could hold there own. But if you would have told me there was a jazz accordian player on the CD I would say yeah right!. Believe me this show is a MUST SEE, IT'S AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, INCREDIBLE, INTENSE, EXCITING AND FANTASTIC!!! GO!! You will not be disappointed. I will never forget this show and I'm a Regina Carter fan for life!!
