Improvised Round Robin Duets...There are no words

by Anonymous on 5/19/14Town Hall - New York

to adequately describe what I experienced and heard! Firstly...the "duel" began 40 minutes late and later suffered equipment problems> HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I can only comment on the opening duel between "voracious guitarist" and "head-trippy electronic producer" ...the words "painful" since within minutes I had both ear and headache, and "presumptuous" since any reference to music was by even the most liberal interpretation misleading, I fled to busy streets whose sounds were a welcomed respite from what I had endured. My husband, who obviously has a higher pain threshold,.stayed through the playing of Allen Toussaint, which he assures me was terrific any which I'm sorry to have had to missed. After Mr. Toussaint he too fled. Taken as a whole it was mostly a waste of time and money,

    It was amateur hour

by HALO17 on 5/7/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I love to go and listen to new acts, but the ones that the Brainfeeder session was not polished at all. Two guys were rapping and had so much swag that they looked bored on stage rapping. Another guy had skills and was decent, I wished he had the stamina to finish his set though. There was a guy that came on before Flying Lotus and he was dope, his music and beats were off the chain, but I'd wish he would have introduced himself because I never got his name. Flying Lotus came out to rap and was great, Badu finally graced us with her presence close to 1am. I love Ms. Badu and have seen her at least 8 times, this was different because she was DJ-ing. She seemed a bit amateurish, not to say what she was mixing and hitting us with wasn't cool, but she just didn't care in making the crowd dance at all. It is like she wanted to come out and listen to music and just enjoy herself and not really acknowledge the crowd. I also hated that she had a man on stage taking film and pictures of her while she was DJ-ing and it would have been fine for 5-10 mins but the whole hour I stayed he was up there either in her face blocking her or he was at the side of the stage but still in the way of some people. I do not think I would go to another event like this especially if the venue does not say upfront who and what kind of show we are going to be in...

    Brainfeeder Session NYC

by nyc100177 on 5/3/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Music was okay...main DJ was absolutely terrible...nobody wants to see you lip synch the songs you're playing...stage crew and set up was horrible, disorganized, etc... Badu not on till 1:30 was pretty weak too :(

by Badevent1 on 5/2/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Wasnt even able to make the show as the set time were all wrong. It was supposed to be from 7-10, but it ended up that Eryka badu started at 1.30 am!!!. So basically i lost 50$ ...for wrong info, i understand there is always first bands but having the headliner start at 1.30 am is a total different event! Super disapointed
