REAL FRIENDS IN CONCERT:

Chicago pop punk collective Real Friends have said they pride themselves on creating music that makes listeners feel less alone. That sentiment is nowhere more apparent apparent than when the quintet plays live on tour. Concertgoers can't help but sing along as frontman Dan Lambton shouts out painfully honest tunes about sadness, heartache, and, ultimately, moving on. From the emotional devastation of "Floorboards" to the angsty satisfaction of "I've Given Up On You", Real Friends' concerts offer a relatable and high-energy concert experience that ticket buyers won't soon forget. Who would have thought heartbreaking music could be so fun?

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bassist Kyle Fasel and guitarist Dave Knox formed Real Friends in 2010 in The South Side of Chicago. They recruited singer Dan Lambton and guitarist Eric Haines before rounding out the lineup with drummer Brian Blake, whom they found on Craigslist. Their debut EP, 2011's This Is Honesty, introduced their knack for honest, relatable lyrics and featured an emo-tinged pop punk sound in the vein of Jimmy Eat World and The Starting Line. Over the next couple years Real Friends recorded four more EPs including their breakout release, 2013's Put Yourself Back Together. The band's rise continued in 2014 with a tour alongside The Wonder Years, a string of dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and the release of their full-length debut album Maybe This Place Is The Same And We're Just Changing -- a No. 24 hit on the Billboard 200 chart.

    A Real Pop Punk Show

by JF on 12/12/23Knitting Factory - Boise - Boise

Let’s be honest, I was totally there for Knuckle Puck. BUT Real Friends put on a tremendous show and had my wife smiling and jumpin around. KP rocked, they delivered an ol fashioned, head banging, moshing, punk show. See you next time!

    Wow, what a great show!

by Bethanie on 11/14/23House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Real Friends? Wonderful. Real Friends LIVE in CHICAGO?? Absolutely incredible. They outdo their own work every time. They are so full of life and passion for their music, and their show at the HOB was no exception. I especially loved that they shared a brand new unreleased song with us AND added a cover song to their show. It made it more fun and unexpected. I love RF and I'll always love RF. Can't wait until I get to see them again!! :)

    best night ever

by Hannah on 3/19/23Music Farm - Charleston

the venue was awesome. loved the bar, the vibe, everything. the green tea shots they had were amazing :) the bands were awesome as well! i’ve been to hundreds of concerts but this one was by far the best. i’ve never seen such a pumped up crowd. a couple of band members interacted with the crowd before the show started which was cool. the vocals were on point! i can’t say one bad thing about any of the bands.

    Beautiful show

by Ethan on 3/15/23Elevation 27 - Virginia Beach

Pit was fun, not too rough. Crowd calmed down during the slower songs, which was a good break. And the crowd was super safe--if someone dropped something or a shoe fell off, immediately a barrier was formed around them. The band absolutely kicked ass. Their sound was excellently mixed. I didn't use earplugs and probably had short-term tinnitus for 16 hours or so following the show. The venue did get pretty hot near the end, so I'm glad I wore a t-shirt and pants. Crowdsurfing was hugely popular and there were so many security people catching the surfers once they'd make it to the front.

    Lived up to Alternative Rock

by Mary Elizabeth on 10/18/22The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

I honestly don't know who Real Friends is but figured they were worth my time if they are in "heaven" of the masquerade. I was banned from Masquerade by the manager since I was trying to surf the crowd while Real Friends was finally on stage. Security told me to cut from the back of the crowd to the front. Once I hauled my butt all the way to the front, same security told me its not going to happen. called the manager and I was banned after expressing my frustration rudely. After 3 drinks that I had to go out of my way to withdraw cash for, overspending on a hoodie, I was kicked out & banned from the Masquerade. The band was great. similar to what I use to listen to when I was in High school. probably not my scene anymore. I have My $60 Real Friends hoodie merch as keepsake to remind me to grow out of the kiddo scene. Guess gotta stick to metal rock now.
