At his live shows Problem delivers favorites like "T.O." and "Like What" with swagger to spare, getting fans bouncing with his infectious energy and full-tilt flow. Problem, aka Jason Martin, was born in West Germany, but grew up steeped in the rap culture of Compton, CA. Early in his career he caught the attention of Snoop Dogg with a verse he wrote for fellow rapper Terrace Martin, and before long he and Terrace were helping Snoop produce tracks. Problem began self-releasing mixtapes in 2006, and in 2009 he signed a 2-single major label deal with Universal. The deal fell apart, but a few years later he achieved breakthrough success as a featured guest on E-40's popular 2012 single "Function". The resulting buzz helped him score his first charting singles with 2012's "T.O." and 2013's "Like What". Since then he's collaborated with numerous hip hop heavyweights including Kendrick Lamar, T.I., Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, and Pharrell Williams. Following nine independently released mixtapes, Problem made his retail debut in 2013 with the EP Understand Me, a critically acclaimed collection of tracks that has fans eagerly awaiting his full-length debut album.
