The show was a fun abridged version of the film. Unfortunately the people behind us and some friends who also saw it had no idea what was going on because they'd never seen the film so one walked out at intermission because there wasn't any plot to go on. If you've seen the movie and would like a new twist it's good for the discount ticket price. Well done by all the performers and crew just not enough plot for those who don't know the film by heart, Mitzi my dear.

    Silly, and not really fun

by jlgg on 4/6/13Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I loved the movie, but this was just plain silly. The costumes were the best part. The sets were cheap, the acting was OK. The sound was not too great - maybe the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago was too big for the event. I know what the songs were beforehand, but for some reason they just did not come across for me. I did not see any "fun" in it.

It is what it is. The music and the dancing were great. It was pure escape and entertainment. A good night! Conservative audience members might be put off by some of the jokes and sexual reference.

    Pricilla Queen of the Desert

by Tavian on 4/2/13Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

It was wonderful entertainment! A nice vehicle to revisit the music of the 80's and of course equality. Unfortunatly I had a problem with my seat and the space below does not allow for a comment. While the perfomance was wonderful. I went to the usher at the start of the overture and they wouldn't seat me in the front row. I had to wait until intermission to go to my seat. Someone else was seated in the first song. I don't like to feel slighted. The ticket cost $100+, someone should have seated me in my seat sooner. It would be hard for me to go to the Auditorium again. I am sure there is a policy about being late and the usher followed it but I was talking to the usher when the overture started I think I could have been seated. It is just a lot of money to spend to have someone just decide randomly that you can't be seated.

    Priscilla Fun and Enjoyable

by rbinchgo on 4/1/13Ford Oriental Theater - Chicago

The play was a good copy of the movie. Acting, costumes, singing, sets and attitude were all top notch. Just saw Jekyll and Hyde the week before and it was awful!!!! Sometimes you just want a fun night out and this show delivers just that.

PRISCILLA IS SPECTACULAR CAMP VAMP FUN!

    by SSSB101 on 4/1/13Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

How much fun can one person have in a theater in one night? The answer is Priscilla Queen of the Desert. This juke box musical (and in this case I use that term as such a compliment) is a heart warmer. The story follows the film's story line, two drag queens and a transsexual in a bus in the outback in Australia, however this is on delightful sequined dipped steroids. The show starts with "the divas" dropping from the ceiling in silver gowns and 2 foot red wigs that makes them looki like champagne bottles belting out "It's Raining Men" and the fun continues for the next 2 hours. "save a little prayer". "we blong" dancing cupake's during MacAthrur's Park, a sexy strip tease to "Material Girl" I could go on and on, but don't want to ruin any surprises. The entire audience was smiling from ear to ear! And the Oscar and TOny winning costumes are the real star! A fun grown up's night out! LOVED IT!!!!!!

Great fun! More fun than Mama Mia!

    by Chicagoman2000 on 3/31/13Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The Good: Lots of great music and was very well adapted from the screen. The bus, which plays a role in the movie was not left behind and plays an even bigger role here was very well done. The singing was good. The guy's bods were FANTASTIC. They kept all of the great and memorable lines from the movie. The references to Madonna vs. ABBA seemed an attempt to modernizing the setting and didn't bug me but it did my friends. The Bad: I'm not a theatre buff and don't really know much about the theatre but I DO know that the person singing should have the a light on him. The singers seemed to be in half light the whole time. The first 5 minutes, the Emcee was incomprehensible...both the reverb from the mic and his bad australian accent. The kid who played Benjy also needs to avail himself of a good dialect coach.
