Primus Concert Schedule

American Rock band Primus first came together in the mid-1980s, bringing fans a distinct style of Alternative Rock that wholly distinguishes them from their contemporaries. Primus' tour dates -- which include their 2017 Ambushing The Storm Tour, 2014 Primus & The Chocolate Factory Tour, and 2014 Spring Tour -- have taken the group across the globe. Their tour stops are mostly centered in the Americas but often include legs in Europe and Oceania as well. During their live shows, Primus delivers their trademark brand of rock, metal, and funk elements, laced with ridiculous lyrics sung by bassist Les Claypool (along with his legendary slap bass stylings). Their musicianship is combined with wild costumes and a sense of theater that get audiences moving and laughing in equal measure. Primus' superb musicianship and stage presence haven't gone unnoticed. Their early 1990s work, Sailing The Seas Of Cheese and Pork Soda, both went platinum. In addition, Their 1996 release, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, and their 2013 re-release of Sailing The Seas Of Cheese both earned them Grammy nominations: Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Surround Sound Album, respectively.

Primus Background

In San Francisco, in 1984, founding member and bassist Les Claypool linked up with guitarist Todd Huth and drummer Jay Lane to form the original Primus. The lineup has gone through several changes over the years, featuring other greats like Peter Libby, Robbie Bean, Tim Wright and even temporary touring members like Buckethead and Danny Carey. Throughout every iteration, though, Primus has always had a knack for putting on stellar shows and concocting unmistakably quirky music. Primus' debut album, Frizzle Fry, garnered them some success with smaller hits like the eponymous "Frizzle Fry," "Pudding Time" and "Mr. Knowitall." They enjoyed even greater acclaim with their 1991 release, Sailing The Seas Of Cheese, which included classic singles like "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver" and "Tommy The Cat." Since their inception, Primus has released more than seven studio albums, with numerous singles gaining spots on the U.S. Alternative charts. Perhaps most enduring is Primus' legacy. The trio has always featured powerhouse musicians and eccentric vocals. Claypool's work on bass, however, redefined the role of the instrument within a rock context and provided a blueprint for the inclusion of tricky (but funky) bass licks in future works by other bands like Incubus, Korn and Limp Bizkit.

    Amazing band

    by Music master on 11/16/23

Primus is a fun show !! It was an amazing show even though the stage and venu wasn’t the greatest. I had a great time , they had plenty of merch !! It was priced well and low enough that I could get a lot of stuff ! The band it self interacted with the crowd and played phenomenal! Overall it was a great show and fun time. I never saw anyone play bass better in my life , and I’ve been to a lot of concerts !! So it was def worth it !! I saw them right after Covid so I’m sure they are even better now

    Epic show!

by Mr. K on 4/20/23The Belasco - Los Angeles

An amazing night with Primus w/ Danny and Justin. Nice, small venue. Watching these guys up close is an experience. Highlights for me were Here Come the Bastards, Aenima, Thela Hun Ginjeet and Whole Lot of Rosie covers. And of course the drumming of Danny and Herb on Moby Dick. So much fun! Was lucky to be a part of it!

    Pure Magic

by M@ on 4/20/23The Belasco - Los Angeles

This is a beautiful venue. Affordable prices, great staff. Very competent in every aspect. The actual event was pure perfection. To see the sky crack open and the angels shine through was amazing. The ensemble even invoked a actual elephant during their finale of southbound pachyderm My wife and 11 year old son loved exploring the grounds inside and out. They enjoyed the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff. Very comfortable spaces throughout

    Insane!

    by S. R. on 9/9/22

I did the Q&A VIP package, all of that bonus stuff was before the show. The guys were all very sweet and cool, cracked some jokes, while still giving good honest answers. The posters and merch art rocked as well. The actual show was fantastic. Watching each of them play the way that they do was incredible. Played a LOT of gems from all over their career, as well as the entirety of Rush’s A Farewell to Kings album. Don’t think there is a band better suited to pull that off. Instrumentally they were spot on, and Les’ voice complimented it well despite obviously sound different than Geddy Lee’s. Lovely. Any Primus fans should go see them!

    Awe inspiring show

    by Michael Lyons on 7/29/22

I wasn't much of Rush fan going i to this show. I knew their famous songs, but not the entire Farwell to Kings album. It was so awesome to see the older Rush fans sing along with Les, and to air guitar and drum along with Lehr and Tim. A great show as always when attending a Primus concert.

    Primus Tribute to Kings

by GV2 on 7/7/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

As usual, Primus Sucks! Such a tight trio. Great tribute to Rush, pleasantly surprised how well Les covered Geddy vocals. Reason for 4 rather than 5 stars: the high intensity lighting shot out in the eyes of audience was very annoying for me.

    Excellent show!

by Dingodriver on 6/29/22Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long Beach

Primus was amazing as always! This was our first time at this theater. I thought the sound was pretty decent. One major problem using this theater as a concert venue is there is no center isle. Everybody has to walk by you everytime. I would suggest buying tickets on the very end of an isle to avoid this problem. The end of the isle still has a great view. Another problem we had was, we arrived early to get a poster before they sold out and they would not let anyone in to use the restroom. There were no others close by that I could see, and nobody at the venue have any advice on where to go. Overall great show!!

    Always a great show

by iamwhatiam on 6/28/22Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long Beach

Primus sucks, but they never disappoint. Great show, intimate venue, long enough my feet were hurting by the end of the show from standing. The only complaint I have was that from all the Ticketmaster notifications, I brought a mask and my vaccination status - which were never checked or enforced. Almost no one wore a mask. Still a great show and so great to be back watching live music again.
