Potted Potter at The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas
Talk about magic!
British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about — you guessed it — Harry Potter
Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.
About the show Potted Potter
One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character — including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named — with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).
Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

We (4) laughed straight through the entire show. Highly entertaining. The performers worked hard but made it look easy. The size of the venue made it so personal, too. I spent 10 years at a high end performing arts venue. I have seen a lot of shows at work and in travel. Potted Potter is a must see! We also saw BlueMan, Cirque LOVE and Criss Angel. All entertaining but Potted Potter far surpassed them in our experience. Hope you see it!
It’s amazing to see two people with limited props, put on such an engaging show. We were captivated from start to finish. Nick and James are truly one of a kind.
I booked this show for myself and family that I was visiting, we had no idea what to expect. Not all of my family is a Potterhead like me, and was unsure I they would enjoy themselves. We all laughed until we cried! It was a funny, interactive and entertaining play! I would go again, that is how much fun I is!
We love HP and we really enjoyed this show. The two men are funny and do a really good job at the parody. Bring your sense of humour and love of Harry Potter and you will enjoy this show. The theatre is small and all seats are good. The back 3 rows are 'general seating' but on high stools so are perfectly adequate to see. There are only about 6 rows of seats (very intimate).
Extremely entertaining and well performed. Funny and engaging, the 2 actors were very good.
Nick and James have great chemistry and are very funny. We enjoyed this show so much, we brought back other family members to see it again. I can't recommend this enough. You don't even need to be a Harry Potter expert to enjoy it. My uncle loved the show and hasn't seen or read every book/movie in the series. Everyone should see this show.
I’m so glad I got the chance to witness this live comedy parody.
You do need to know potter, but if you do and aren’t too precious about it, then you’ll love this.
We had not originally planned to see the The Potted Potter, but we are so glad we did! This two man show delivered non-stop laughs and high energy for over an hour. My 11 year old, a Harry Potter fan, has not stopped talking about it. Great family show to see while in Vegas!
