Ponoka Stampede; Canada's largest 7 day Professional Rodeo & Chuck Wagons is a major tourism attraction for the Province of Alberta. Year after year, thousands of loyal fans come to the small town of Ponoka during the July 1st weekend to enjoy what many consider it to be the best entertainment in Canada. The Stampede began in 1936 as a single day event and has grown to become a seven day show featuring Professional Rodeo, World Professional Chuck Wagons, Beer Gardens, Dances, Concerts, Casino, Parades, Fireworks and the Popular Stampede Breakfasts.
Rodeo competition was not as good as previous years, Cowboys not on their game the day we attended. Shame given the prize money available. Trade show was great, good selection of products and services. The Food service booth only accepting debit or cash was inconvenience. Smoke ribs house senior meal was great value.
It was tough this year for me as I have a broken leg. Lots of walking with crutches but everyone was so kind ! We had awesome seats out of the wind. Cowboys had lots of personalities that you don't see much in the pass years. It was so entertaining and worth the money ! Thank you to Ponoka for making yet another year fantastic!! My grandson went to Corb Lund He's 11 yrs old and my son surprised him ! He came unglued when Corb hit the stage. He knows every word to every song. So exciting for him !
Was a fantastic show!! Huge shoutout to the Ponoka Stampede Committee and the athletes - job well done as always!!
We attended the Stampede on Canada Day and it was an excellent afternoon of entertainment. The facilities are good (however, additional washroom facilities for the ladies would be nice) and the full slate of rodeo events was well paced and very professional. The wild pony race by the local first nations children very entertaining. As it was Canada Day there was extra attention paid to also celebrating this special day.
This is my fifteenth year of going to the Ponoka Stampede. I love to see the horses living the life they were meant to lead, instead of being in a pasture somewhere. Everyway you look at it each animal is living a life that was meant to lead.
The rodeo was amazing, the grounds well kept, the people working were great. It was awesome to go to
Easy to get into and quite the experience. Friendly people, lots of excitement, and an amazing concert by Corb Lund to wrap up the night.
If you are looking to check off “Rodeo” from your bucket list …Ponoka Alberta is the place to go. It is very well organized and easy to navigate. The crowds are manageable and the cost is too!!! DEFINITELY a wonderful experience! Grab your boots and hat (include a rain poncho just in case) …. And GO! YeeHaw!!
The long score is the coolest ever! Small Town. Big time rodeo. Wonderful hospitality. And reasonably priced. We'll be back!
Group of 7, all first time Rodeo atten dees. Watched Chuck wagon and bull riding and enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Will definitely be there next year
