    Lowbrow and Lazy

by Shaper on 1/26/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

When you go to a performance like this you expect off color and lowbrow humor. The problem with Point Break Live is the comedy is lazy. One joke about the homoerotic subtext of the film is funny. Having 90 percent of the humor revolve around it is infantile and sloppy. One penis joke is funny. Forty five penis jokes - Boring. If you want to spend your evening watching men paw each other and yell a lot, go for it. Make sure you have more than a few drinks. You will need them to find the humor in this middle school boys fantasy production.

Maybe they play it differently in Brooklyn, but in Boston, this show seemed to rely for comedy on homophobia, anti-semitism and poop jokes, all delivered at screaming volume. Oh yeah, and it started an hour late. We left after 30 minutes of the actual show.

Catherine Bigelow should have more Oscars!

by Anonymous on 9/15/15Howard Theatre - Washington

Seriously, this show is spectacular in every regard. The pacing, the presence, the comedy, the faux-slapdash nature of it, and the actors are just magnificent. If you ever laughed at anything, and thought "Huh, I enjoy laughing. That was nice!", then you owe it to yourself to go see this show for some additional laughing. This show deserves an Oscar and a Tony!

Point Break Live was very entertaining for about 45 minutes. At about 2.5 hours in total it needs a fair bit of retooling. It's a great idea, and the cast is very good, the person who plays Gary Busey was amazing. It's just too long, and relied on the same homoerotic joke/physical comedy for the whole show. If it was shorter I'm sure some people might complain about "not getting their monies worth" but there is a lot of filler that needs to be cut. The action scenes were they do little choreographed fight bits are just a waste of time and effort. I appreciate the physical skill involved but this is a comedy show about an action movie, we really don't need several 5-10 minute scenes of people jumping around on stage. Overall this is a great concept and I hope they rework it a bit and have success at it.

    Epic

    by Justpeachy742 on 6/1/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

We loved every minute of it. It had a great audience participation component between getting robbed and using a person in the audience as a main character. Cheesy, funny, and imaginative.

    Hilariously fun time

by TodFilth on 2/3/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

I was a little skeptical going to the show, since I didn't really know how it would be, however, all of that was nonsense. This show was hilarious from start to finish. I loved it.
